Position Summary: This is a great opportunity to work in our Cardiology practice as a Monitor and EKG Technician. Successful candidate must maintain a professional image in the office and in all communications. Must be able to multi-task while maintaining good patient and staff relations.
Essential Job Functions:
Duties Performs exams per department protocol and demonstrates EKG competency. Placement of Heart Monitors and helping patients understand how to use them. Operates and exhibits a working knowledge of the equipment by demonstrating the ability to proficiently use it and select the proper settings. Performs routine maintenance including cleaning of equipment and reports any variance from normal that impacts the function of the equipment. Accurately completes orders and patient billing. Conducting Prior Authorizations and working clinic task list concerning authorization for monitors and testing pertaining to the Cardiology Department. Notifies physician if critical values are identified during the test. Incumbent is responsible to be able to administer every test within the EKG Lab (to include Holter, ambulatory telemetry/event monitors, and blood pressure monitor hook-up, stress testing, and EKGs). Must provide technical assistance and monitoring of all exercise treadmill studies as appropriate by facility. Provides patient education as needed and assures patient comfort. .
Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent is required.
Strong interpersonal, communication, prioritization and organization skills.
Must be a self-starter and willing to work as a team player. Must be able to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Must be proficient on computers.
Knowledge of ICD10 and PT preferred. A working knowledge of electronic medical records preferred. Knowledge or medical terminology preferred. EKG Tech certificate or License is Required. CPR Certificate is required to have either before or able to obtain CPR certificate within 2 months.
