Position Summary

The EKG technician under the guidance of the Director and Diagnostic Manager of Respiratory Care assumes the responsibility of the technical aspects relating to the acquisition and processing of electrocardiograms.  Responsible for day-to-day EKG lab operations, ensuring appropriate charges, maintaining EKG equipment, and the EKG database. Other duties assigned as needed.

Core Job Responsibilities

Ensures EKG Order Logs and Charges are Processed on a Daily Basis EKG computer system is operated to accurately maintain patient data including EKG demographics and interpreting physicians daily.  Assign EKG’s to physician readers on computer for on-line interpretation.  Computer system is operated to accurately receive and transmit electrocardiograms from satellite sites as needed. Reviews patient data with physician as requested. Equipment is maintained and serviced in accordance with service/operator manual. Intervenes appropriately to test results.  Ensures appropriate interventions based on results of diagnostic tests. Must be able to stand and/or walk considerable distances throughout the hospital while moving equipment. Must be able to withstand the demands of an active position. Must be able to make decisions clearly and quickly. Must be able to work as a team member with peers and others
