The role you’ll contribute:

The EKG 1 independently performs diagnostic quality ECGs, SAECG, and Holter monitor hook-ups. Must recognize and alert appropriate personnel to lethal arrhythmias and unstable hemodynamics. Demonstrates scheduling flexibility and is compliant with special requests as situations dictate. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

A four-week notice is required for resignations, transfer, and any change in employment status resulting in decreased working hours.

Positions and applies electrodes in proper location

Identifies and corrects for wandering, interference and artifact

Independently performs diagnostic ECG testing

Manages unmatched list in a timely manner

Responds appropriately and in a timely manner to all patient orders

Assessment

Identifies patients by using AdventHealth’s approved guidelines

Communicates abnormal findings to the nurse and or physician in a timely manner

Ensures that an order or a prescription is present for the EKG and or Holter monitor

Documentation

Accurately documents and reports all procedures in accordance with department expectations

Enters all patient demographic information accurately

Downloads, edits and faxes Holter monitor information in a timely manner

Communication

Communicates with patient and their family members according to their age and understanding

Explains procedures in a way that the receiver can understand

Process Improvement

Provides suggestions to improve department and hospital processes

Participates in process improvement projects

Professional Growth

Provides goals on employee input form that lead to growth opportunities

Assists with clinical instructions and serves as a resource to less experienced employees and new personnel.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Ability to read, write legibly and perform basic mathematical functions

• Ability to communicate effectively and work with people of diverse backgrounds

• Computer knowledge and skills

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

• A new hire may begin employment provided the facility has the ability to facilitate the successful completion of the required AHA BLS program prior to any patient contact. This may be achieved using web-based training with voice-assisted manikin skills check off (ie: Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) Program or Heartcode) or instructor-led training.
