Electric Motor Calibration and Test Developer

Lucid Motors is seeking an Electric Motor Calibration and Test Engineer for the Control Development Group. This group will support Lucid’s plan to achieve world-class efficiency, safety and drive quality. The Engineer must be a strong systems-focused team player with interdisciplinary experience/expertise, and willing to work in a fast paced environment. 

Your role: 

Establish best practices for traction motor controls related analysis, diagnostics, and testing  Develop test automation, automate test tools, generate and improve automation scripts on HIL / dynamometer tests  Work with hardware design team to support hardware validation efforts and efficiency optimization    Troubleshoot various systems and ECUs using lab and measurement equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters as well as tools such as Vector CANoe, CANalyzer etc. and provide feedback to architecture and systems engineering group  Represent motor controls at system level integration including powertrain tests, vehicle HIL, vehicle road and track tests.    Run tests at various levels of integration, document and report test results after data analysis  Utilize data acquisition systems to record test results for analysis  Document and track issues as appropriate and participate in triaging of issues with different teams to drive towards root cause identification and resolution  Advance the state-of-the-art in electrified vehicle technology through the use of innovative methods, tools, and processes  Work on NI-VeriStand and LabView to support inhouse dynos  Develop methods to improve reliability of testing 

Qualifications: 

B.S. or M.S. in Electrical, Mechanical or equivalent Engineering degree or 4 years of experience working with electric motors and inverters  Minimum 1 years of industrial or academic experience working with permanent magnet synchronous electric motors and/or inverters  Experience with modeling and simulation  Experience with data acquisition and testing  Experience with data analysis  Experience with electrified vehicles 
 

Advantageous: 

2 years of experience working with electric motors and inverters.  Specialization in classical/modern control disciplines with vehicle application  Expertise in electric motor and inverter calibration, dynamometer testing, parameter measurement and system identification  Experience with electric motor and inverter diagnostics  Demonstrated critical thinking and technical problem solving ability  Understanding of electrified vehicle fundamentals  Outstanding interpersonal skills, self-motivated and able to work independently
