Volt is immediately hiring for an Electrical Application Engineer in New Berlin, WI.

\r\n

As an Electrical Application Engineer, you will be responsible for all electrical part activities on electric overhead cranes and portal cranes. Emphasis will be on electrical components including motors, brakes, controls, switches, PLC's, pendants, radio systems, weigh systems, camera systems, etc. Within this role, you will:

\r\n\r\nPerform application tasks using established procedures and develop improvements to existing procedures as needed. These include but are not limited to component selection, preliminary schematic design, preliminary system layout, and preliminary automation component selection.\r\nInterpret customer specifications to determine scope of work.\r\nAbility to search company archives to find records of legacy equipment. Must be proficient in reading legacy equipment schematics.\r\nProvide phone support and technical assistance on our client's electrics products for product selection.\r\nPerform optimization of components by working in an interactive Team environment to reduce costs and improve delivery schedules.\r\n\r\n

This position requires the direct interface between frontline sales, customers, production planning (Watertown), and project management. Site visits for application require the ability to work at heights up to 100 feet off the ground. Travel estimated at 5% to meet with customers, commission equipment, and witness product testing at our manufacturing plant.

This is a DIRECT HIRE opportunity.

\r\n

Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering is preferred or, a degree in a related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience as an electrical or automation engineer working with motion and motor control products. Related experience with overhead electric cranes or similar industrial equipment will be taken into consideration.

\r\n

Experience:

\r\n\r\nMust be self-motivated, display leadership abilities, and have knowledge of the Crane Manufacturers Association of America (CMAA).\r\nExcellent understanding of electricity, motor control electrical circuits, and analog and digital input/output.\r\nExperience designing and troubleshooting motor control circuits utilizing electromagnetic devices and variable frequency drives (VFD's).\r\nKnowledge of PLC programing software.\r\nProficient in reading electrical schematics and vendor application drawings.\r\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.\r\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills.\r\n\r\n


Salary: $70,000- $90,000 per year
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
