Electrical Apprentice
Job Title: Electrical Apprentice Department: FACILITIES Reports To: Facilities Shift Manager or Assistant Facilities Shift Manager FLSA Status: Non-Exempt License: Class III Closing Date: December 27, 2024 at 4:00pm SUMMARY : The Electrical Apprentice’s primary responsibility is to gain working knowledge and experience through the mentorship of a certified electrician. Will assist and learn how to install, repair, and maintain facilities’ electrical systems. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: + Exhibits a friendly, helpful and courteous manner when dealing with the public and fellow associates + Possess a New York State Driver’s license or a driver’s license from another area with a Driver’s Abstract + Will learn how to read and interpret prints, diagrams, instructions, schematics under the training of his/her mentor. + Will possess effective interpersonal and communication skills + Will learn how to use computer office programs, department specific programs, computer-controlled equipment/systems through the assistance of his/her mentor. + Will learn how to maintain records of routine and preventative maintenance of all Electrical equipment + Will learn how to perform preventative maintenance on all electrical equipment. + Will learn how to routinely inspect electrical panels and equipment to ensure safe wiring. + Will learn and assist his/her mentor in maintaining a constant watch over all transformers, ensuring excessive heating does not occur. + Will learn how to maintain adequate inventory of supplies and equipment to effectively execute job responsibilities. + Will ensure optimal level of guest service is achieved by completing daily work and special projects in an efficient, timely manner. + Will learn and assist his/her mentor in expanding existing electric services to accommodate remodeling and new construction projects. + Basic proficiency in other building trade skills: General Construction, HVAC/Refrigeration, Plumbing, Painting, Locksmith, Electrical/Mechanical Systems, and related skills: Fleet Work, Gaming Equipment, Grounds Keeping, Engraver, etc. + Will learn and assist his/her mentor in protecting and securing company assets: Property, Guest and Associate Safety, Fire Panel, Sprinkler system, Generator/ATS, UPS, Cooling Tower, Rotor Rooter, Emergency Response, Water Softener, Kitchen Equipment, Refrigeration, Handicap Doors, Chemical Handling, HVAC Control System, Electrical/Mechanical Systems, etc. + Builds, installs, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains casino properties + Other duties as assigned by the Facilities Shift Manager and Assistant Facilities Shift Manager.or Electrician. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be willing to train and learn. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE : Will be enrolled in Electrical Apprenticeship Program. LANGUAGE SKILLS : Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other associates of the organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation. The position exists in a casino work environment where there is occasional exposure of the associate to noise and cigarette smoke from the casino floor. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The associate is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. LICENSING POLICY/BACKGROUND CHECK: All candidates must be 18 years of age when applying. All positions require candidates to obtain and maintain a New York State certification and a Saint Regis Mohawk Tribal Gaming Class III License which requires a criminal background check to be used solely for employment purposes.
