Responsibilities:

The essential roles and responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Troubleshoot control system, electrical, and instrumentation issues as needed to support plant uptimeAutomates and manages existing automation of process functionsCoordinate lifecycle upgrades for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including maintaining spare parts inventories and basic administration of control system applicationsSupport and maintain key electrical infrastructureProvide automation systems input into project development and design schedules, including identifying and leading controls-related projectsDevelop and maintain electrical and automation documentation, including procedures, databases, backups, drawings, schematics, etc.Maintain vendor and contractor agreements and relationshipsEnsure compliance to and contribute to the ongoing maintenance of the Process Safety Management (PSM) program, including participation in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA), Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA), Management of Change (MOC), Alarm Management (AM), and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) programsParticipate in investigations of electrical and automation related incidents and ensure follow-up actions are completed to prevent recurrencePerform job in a way that supports the site’s High Performance Work System (HPWS), including training team members to improve the understanding of the area’s electrical and automation systemsOccasional travel (<5% of time) will be required for training and sharing technology with other U.S. and global manufacturing sites Qualifications: Required Education/QualificationsBachelors degree in Electrical, Automation or related Engineering field3+ years of experience in automation or electrical role within a manufacturing environment. Chemical industry a plusDemonstrated trustworthiness, integrity, and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with and/or knowledge of the following control system technologies:ABB Distributed Control System (DCS)Rockwell Allen-Bradley PLCsAllen-Bradley Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)AspenTech IP.21 Process Data HistorianVarious communication interfaces, including:Ethernet/IPModbus TCPOPCManufacturing Execution System (MES) software:TrakSYSCustom visual basic shop floor softwareSAP Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) softwareK-Tron and Schenck loss-in-weight feeders7 years experience with electrical engineering in a manufacturing environment, including power distribution, electrical classification and testing, motor control fundamentals, VFDs, etc.Knowledge of process instrumentation, including measurement devices, control valves, pumps, etc.Experience with industrial control network communications and cybersecurityProcess Safety Management (PSM) knowledge and/or experienceManagement of Change (MOC) knowledge and/or experienceSafety Instrumented Systems (SIS) knowledge and/or experienceKnowledge of industry electrical, instrumentation, and control systems related RAGAGEP standards and codes, especially electrical safety requirements per NFPA and NECExcellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsMust be self-motivated, be able to work independently and in teams, and have excellent attention to detailDemonstrate the 5 culture traits of Celanese leaders within the scope of this role:Results-driven: Drive initiatives through to completion and offer creative solutions to achieve excellent resultsEnterprise-oriented: Focus on supporting the company’s overall goals, including advocating for safety and security in all aspects of the jobPersonal relationships: Have strong interpersonal skills with cross-functional teammates and make respect for people a priorityDiscipline: Be self-motivated with the ability to initiate, prioritize, organize, and standardize for impactAgility: Be bold, decisive, and flexible to adapt to new ideas
