What You'll Be DoingJob Summary: Generally responsible for supervision and technical direction of a Commissioning & Startup project onsite. Can lead a Commissioning & Startup team onsite or work independently. Can oversee a team of Startup & Commissioning teammates engaged in the execution of CSU activities related to projects, ensuring total delivery of the services on time, within performance budget and meeting quality expectations. The position will execute project documents that have been developed, or review and give input to CSU execution plans. Work involves utilization of project controls for cost, schedule and quality of projects. The position will support the Project Managers in implementation of the direction provided by the Client. The position at time will be responsible for creating Commissioning & Startup documents and procedures for the client or the clients project. This work will be performed under the Startup & Commissioning Leader supervision in Houston, TX
Primary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Help in the office and field with our checkout/commissioning activities.
Oversee third party testing and commissioning assuring things are installed and properly tested
Check equipment is installed per code and standards
Support energization of equipment
Perform inspections to develop a survey of ground connections. Inspections should include repairing broken ground connections as needed and performing megger test for resistance.
Survey electrical equipment to ensure if it should be inspected on a regular basis and repaired or replaced as-needed. Ensure that any equipment installed in a process area is suitable for the environment and develop an ignition source list.
Implement a maintenance program for detection and correction of conduit problems, to include periodic surveys.
Extensive knowledge of construction safety requirements, with a commitment to a zero accidents environment.
Ensure contractor’s activities are planned and executed with safety first.
Familiarity with project scope, specifications and design criteria upon assignment to a task.
Technical contractual activities on one or more projects of various sizes.
Promoting continued relationships with clients.
Participating in field construction efforts, design phase services and all subcontracting as well as participating in all major technical, cost, scheduling and performance decisions.
Recognizing and communicating scope and design changes promptly.
Providing on-site assistance during startup.
Coordinating work activities with other staff members and the discipline lead.
Consulting with design leaders to ensure the smooth flow of vital information necessary for the scheduled completion of the project.
Advising the engineer concerning design or scope changes, which have been identified.
Reviewing and checking vendor drawings and other disciplines.
Reviewing construction specifications.
Reviewing fabrication drawings and other construction submittals for conformance to drawings and specifications.

Ideal Background
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Bachelor or Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited university is preferred.
Experience: Requires 5 or more years of relevant electrical testing and commissioning experience.

Extensive experience in Testing and Commissioning Startup
Ability to travel often to support Start Up and Commissioning of various sites across the US.
Ability to build ground testing program.

A comprehensive understanding of the function of all engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction processes.
Survey conduit for damage and missing components.
Ability to relate easily to others in the business community such as customers, suppliers, contractors, government, professional and trade associations.

Understanding of existing and potential customer needs and preferences.
Ability to set priorities.
Excellent listening and communication skills, both verbal and written.
Good presentation and organizational skills.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
