Electrical Control Technician: Pitman Nights (6pm to 6:30 am) with a $1500 sign on bonus

Job Description:

Controls Technician is responsible for designing, programming, repairing, and maintaining programmable logic controller (PLC) systems used within Mars Wrigley Yorkville production facilities.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications

High school education or GED, OR completion of an accredited and/or state-approved/certified electrical apprenticeship training program.Proven record of accomplishment achieving positive results leading to increased electrical/controls responsibilities.Currently possesses or has the ability to obtain, an Operation Electrical Qualification Certificate (ability to work independently in and around electrical enclosures with exposed live parts).Working knowledge of Allen Bradley Control Logix family of process controllers, including the ability to connect to controllers, navigate instruction sets for troubleshooting, and be comfortable modifying existing code.RSLogix 5000Studio 5000SLC 500SiemensExperience with Ethernet IP and serial port communication protocols.Familiarity with SCADA packages such as Panelview, Panelview Plus, and Wonderware.Demonstrated knowledge and ability to interpret and troubleshoot electrical/electronic circuits.Team-oriented, highly motivated, self-starter capable of completing tasks with limited direction.Eagerness to continually develop control systems knowledge and skill set to advance to senior controls technician.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree in electrical/electronic/controls/automation technology or related field.Experience with motion control systems/servo motors (Kinetix, Rexroth/Indramat).Instrumentation setup, calibration, and validation.Knowledge of, and comfortable navigating Windows Remote Desktop Application.Basic understanding of ThinManager thin client technology.Experience with Schneider Electric programmable logic controllers and software (Elau)Experience with pneumatics (solenoids, cylinders, motor brakes, reading, troubleshooting).Capable of interfacing with all levels of the workforce, laterally as well as vertically (exempt and non-exempt), operations, maintenance, planners, management, plant engineering, contractors, and vendors in a courteous and professional manner.Demonstrated ability to give clear, concise communications. Provide information, observations, and conclusions that are understood and can be acted upon.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Primary Responsibilities Include:

Participants on cross-functional continuous process improvement teams to drive plant performance through incremental programming initiatives and/or process changes to increase MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) and reduce downtime.Work in concert with the operations team to perform breakdown analysis to identify and resolve the root cause of production issues negatively impacting KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).Assist shift maintenance technicians and operations with the resolution of process issues using specific controls systems software applications and PLC hardware.Perform routine preventive maintenance inspections and activitiesUtilize technical publications (equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams, P&IDs, Rockwell Knowledgebase Articles) to troubleshoot and maintain electrical and controls systems.Maintain/update systems documentation in accordance with plant change management procedures.Tune parameters of closed-loop PID.Install, calibrate, and troubleshoot magnetic flow meters, mass flow meters, and level and pressure transmitters; troubleshoot discrete devices such as limit switches, level probes, and solenoid valves. Calibrate and troubleshoot safety overload devices and safety interlock circuits.Perform checkout, start-up, and validation on process systems.Restore faulted equipment after power outages.Specifies, organizes, and maintains adequate spare parts for control and instrumentation systems.Routinely follow up with operations to verify programmatical solution(s) resolved/improved performance issues and receive feedback.Work independently under limited supervision (self-management)Document work schedule and work tasks completed

Additional Responsibilities May Include:

Support capital projects (executed both at the regional level and local level) by assisting lead project engineers and/or taking on individual taskParticipate in the development of capital project scopes, design of systems, and functional specifications.Participate in and execute tasks to sustain the plant Factory IT Asset Health Check program.Participates in the creation and implementation of a maintenance technician training program to:Bolster electrical and controls troubleshooting skills.Gain awareness of Factory IT network architecture and the software tools used to modify and maintain it.Develop knowledge of, and become proficient with the development, implementation, and troubleshooting of plant SCADA systems.
