RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, develop, and implement electrical control systems for pulp and paper machinery, emphasizing the integration and configuration of Distributed Control Systems (DCS). Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical engineers, software engineers, and project managers, to ensure seamless project execution with a focus on DCS integration within pulp and paper mill processes. Create and review electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts, aligning with the specific requirements of pulp and paper manufacturing and DCS specifications. Program and configure PLCs and HMIs, ensuring compatibility with DCS systems and optimizing control for pulp and paper processes. Conduct thorough testing and troubleshooting of control systems, with a particular emphasis on DCS functionality within the context of pulp and paper production. Engage with clients in the pulp and paper industry to understand their unique requirements and deliver tailored solutions, incorporating DCS technologies. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements, integrating cutting-edge DCS technologies into control system designs relevant to pulp and paper manufacturing. Provide technical support during the installation and commissioning of control systems, with expertise in DCS implementation for pulp and paper mill environments.
EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
Paper mill or other industrial manufacturing experience preferred. Strong troubleshooting skills and knowledge of various electrical sensors, switches, controllers, instrumentation, transmitters, automated valves, calibrations, industrial communications, robotics, motion control and AC/DC control power Programming experience including the ability to create, monitor, modify PLC and DCS control logic. Ability to work with plant personnel, engineering groups, and outside contractors to ensure the proper execution of work. Prioritization of time and work. Use of self-initiative and independence to complete tasks with urgency and meet deadlines.REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, industrial technology, or other related degree or a vocational certificate/diploma in electronic controls/instrumentation/technician. A combination of education and experience will be considered. 1-3+ years’ experience as an electrical maintenance technician in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
