WHAT YOU WILL DO:As an Electrical Controls Technician, you will maintain and optimize control systems for our roller coasters and park attractions, focusing on safety, performance, and reliability. Your role will include but is not limited to, PLC programming, troubleshooting, and collaboration with various teams to ensure top-notch operational standards for our guests.
HOW YOU WILL DO IT:Programming & Troubleshooting: Develop, modify, and troubleshoot PLC programs specific to amusement ride control systems, ensuring both safety and peak performance.Maintenance & Repair: Conduct regular maintenance, diagnose, and resolve issues in PLC-controlled systems on roller coasters and other attractions, minimizing downtime.Safety & Compliance: Adhere to regulatory safety standards and Six Flags’ high safety benchmarks, closely partnering with Maintenance and Safety teams.System Monitoring: Use HMI and SCADA systems for real-time monitoring, data collection, and analysis to assess attraction performance and system health.Documentation: Accurately document all maintenance, programming updates, and diagnostics; create reports on ride performance and maintenance activities.Team Collaboration: Work alongside ride engineering and maintenance teams to provide support, training, and expert troubleshooting.Emergency Support: Be on-call for urgent troubleshooting and repairs, ensuring guest safety and minimal downtime for attractions. Conduct downtime calls with electrical and mechanical teams during park operation.Energy Management system: maintenance and implement EMS system to control park A/C, lighting and all park components.HVAC: support of HVAC control troubleshootingKitchen equipment: support troubleshooting of kitchen equipment.WHAT YOU WILL NEED:Education & Experience: Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or related field; experience with amusement rides preferred.Technical Skills: Advanced knowledge of PLC programming languages (e.g., Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text) and hands-on experience with control systems such as Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or Modicon.Analytical Skills: Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and programming documentation.Experience with HMI/SCADA Systems: Familiarity with HMI and SCADA systems for detailed monitoring and control of complex equipment.Problem-Solving Skills: Strong ability to diagnose and resolve complex control system issues effectively.Communication Skills: Clear and effective communicator for team collaboration and accurate documentation.Preferred: Experience with safety and control networks such as Ethernet/IP, Modbus, or Profibus.Preferred: Background in amusement ride maintenance or related fields.Flexibility to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, to support park operations.FactorsSubstantiating DataEducationAssociate degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related field required.
ExperienceRequires relevant experience in PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance. Experience with amusement rides preferred.

Errors in programming or troubleshooting could directly impact guest and employee safety. Strict adherence to safety protocols is critical to prevent accidents and ensure compliance with safety standards.

Frequent interaction with team members across departments, including maintenance, engineering, and safety teams; occasional communication with park leadership regarding system performance and reliability.
Confidential Data
Maintains confidentiality of technical schematics, programming codes, and diagnostic reports, adhering to company policy for proprietary and safety-sensitive information.
Visual and Mental Demand
Requires sharp visual acuity for reading schematics and assessing equipment; high mental focus for troubleshooting and solving complex control system issues, often under time constraints.
Physical Demand
Must be able to stand, walk, and move throughout the park for extended periods. Regular climbing, bending, crouching, and crawling are required to access and inspect roller coaster components and control panels. Must lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly, and up to 75 pounds occasionally. High degree of manual dexterity needed for handling tools and controls.
Working Conditions
Primarily outdoor work with exposure to various weather conditions, including high temperatures, rain, and wind. Must be comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around moving machinery and loud noises.
