Your role and responsibilities

Join ABB’s fastest growing division as an Electrical Design Engineer, designing customized low and medium voltage variable frequency drive solutions for some of the world’s most critical applications. From concept to completion, you’ll ensure compliance, optimize designs, and deliver quality, cost-effective solutions that meet customer requirements.The work model for the role is: Hybrid #LI-Hybrid You will be mainly accountable for:•\tTechnical Contribution & Leadership: Create custom solutions according to customer specification for low and medium voltage system drives. Support design reviews, validate solutions, and adjust standard designs where necessary. Assists in communication with customer pertaining to specific project design assignments or meetings.•\tTask Management & Collaboration: Identifies and prioritize customer requests to support project requirements. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to provide innovative solutions to customer’s technical problem while working closely with a dynamic team of engineers & technicians to execute projects that meet industry standards while maintaining exceptional quality and reliability.•\tPlanning and Control: Follows work plans and cost estimates for work in electrical design responsibilities and ensure quality deliverables (Schematics, One-lines, BOMs, Manufacturing Instruction) on time and at targeted cost. •\tProcesses and Tools: Adhere to ABB procedures, design methodology, and assist in developing new processes or tools to maximize quality and efficiency•\tCustomer Engagement & Supply Chain Management: Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of design assignments. Collaborate closely with other organizational functions, sourcing, and manufacturing teams, on diverse customer projects. Providing design-related evaluations of proposals for standard materials and equipment.

Qualifications for the role

\tBachelor of Engineering Degree with minimum 5 years of professional experience in an engineering role including and working knowledge of Agency Standards like UL, IEC, IEEE, NFPA etc., is required.\tPreferred Experience Includes: Background and knowledge of Low Voltage (LV) or Medium Voltage (MV) Variable Frequency Drives or power electronics packaging, Experience of Electrical Design tools like AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN etc., PLM experience in SAP and/or PTC Windchill, Experience is system testing, FAT tests with LV or MV equipment, Experience in power system modelling and knowledge of simulation tools like SKM ETAP, Simulink etc. is an added advantage for this role.\tExperience in executing multiple ‘Engineered to Order Projects’ of scope and scale simultaneously is required in this role\tCandidates must have work authorization that permits him/her to work for ABB in the US.\tUp to 10% travel may be required, to visit other plants, suppliers, and authorized manufacturing centers.
