Electrical Design Engineer
Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Electrical Design Technician to assist with the design, implementation, and training aspects of electrical projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electrical systems, proficiency in AutoCAD, and the ability to work hands-on in a dynamic environment. Responsibilities + Provide hands-on involvement and training of electricians on schematic reading, installation, testing, and labeling. + Collaborate with Sales Engineers on electrical design, proposals, and specification requirements to ensure NEC code adherence. + Test and inspect each unit before shipping using product drawings and specifications, and correct any errors or defects as needed. + Provide leadership and guidance on the standard design and layout of electrical components in enclosures. + Deliver technical guidance and on-the-job training to employees on the safe operation of equipment and proper work techniques. + Create, organize, implement, and manage cross-training for all production employees on the electrical portion of products. + Exercise initiative and discretion in determining work methods and priorities. + Perform standard computations related to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment. + Read wiring diagrams and interpret specifications to determine the appropriate installation process. + Work from drawings, layouts, blueprints, or other specifications while constructing equipment. + Develop Electrical Drawings, Bills of Material (BOM), and specify equipment. + Understand and review third-party materials expected to be received for projects, ensuring timely receipt and clear understanding of electrical requirements. Essential Skills + Thorough understanding of power generation products, including generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, and conduit systems. + Proficient understanding of AC/DC Electricity and Electronic Theory. + Competency in using electronic test equipment and performing functional and indication tests as well as calibration of electrical equipment. + Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical schematic drawings and engineering blueprints. + Ability to wire control panels in the factory, troubleshoot discrepancies, and assist the electrical assembly team. + Ability to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form, and read drawings, schematics, and blueprints. + Excellent customer satisfaction skills and the ability to project a positive, professional image with customers. + Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar drawing tools, and understanding of current National Electric Code (NEC). + Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively. + Strong oral and written presentation skills to effectively convey information and respond to inquiries from coworkers and customers. Additional Skills & Qualifications + At least 3 years of work experience including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment. + Training from an accredited technical school specializing in diesel or gas engines, or honorable discharge with a duty assignment related to power generation equipment service is a plus. + Formal electronics training including Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors. + Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is a plus. + Requires a two step onsite interview process. Work Environment 100% onsite with a production/manufacturing environment. Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
