Actively seeking a electrical design engineer to be responsible for leading and designing the electrical power distribution and signal network for the auxiliary equipment of our Gas Turbine projects. Voltage levels are primarily low-voltage (600V and below) with the implementation of equipment such as MCCs, LV Transformers, DC Systems, and Batteries.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop single-line diagrams, panelboard schedules, electrical loads lists, motors lists, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable schedules, and terminations schedules.Develop power system plans, lighting plans, electrical room layouts, elevation drawings, conduit/cable tray arrangements, and hazardous area classifications.Perform calculations for sizing of equipment (e.g., breakers, overload devices, relays), sizing of cables/conduits/equipment spacing, illumination level calculations, and maintain BOMs.Develop and/or review electrical, control, and instrumentation wiring diagrams and cable lists generated by SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL) or SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI).Prepare purchase specifications for electrical equipment and select vendors to construct electrical packages.Generate Electrical drawing packages used or created by Electrical engineers, designers, and drafters to document logic, point-to-point wiring, and system interaction.Interpret and design per code requirements from the authority having jurisdiction over a project’s electrical installation, including NEC/NFPA 70, CEC, IEC, ISA, AGA, etc.Meet regularly with vendors to ensure all technical and schedule requirements are met.Interpret and integrate design requirements from the parent company.Interpret and respond to technical inquiries from customers, vendors, and field personnel.Use SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), and SmartPlant 3D (S3D) to design electrical power and control systems.Possess current, working knowledge of electrical and instrumentation design for industrial facilities.Preferred experience with Generators (150 MVA ratings and above) for Gas or Steam Turbines and power plant experience.Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures, reporting all unsafe activities to Management and/or Human Resources.Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.Contribute to building a positive team spirit.Communicate effectively with all levels of employees.Handle various assignments, including rework, in a timely manner to meet schedule deadlines.Follow policies, procedures, and safety guidelines in their work.Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identify any potential risk to product quality.Develop schedules, coordinate, and manage the design for projects of all sizes with minimal supervision from the project lead.Simplify product designs for improved manufacturability and reduced cost without compromising product quality and function.Assist Sales and Marketing and Development Engineering with projects to enhance existing and develop new product lines.Meet schedule requirements for project engineering deliverables.Provide technical support during the manufacturing and commissioning of equipment.Lead junior engineers and interns and support their development.Travel up to 10%.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.Minimum three (3) years of technical and/or practical experience in industrial facility power distribution design (up to 600VAC and 220VDC) with signal propagation.Familiarity with electrical codes, industry standards, and best practices.Strong familiarity with National Electric Code NFPA 70.Experience with SmartPlant Electrical (SPEL), SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI), and SmartPlant 3D (S3D).Experience with electrical design tools such as AutoCAD and lighting calculation software (e.g., DIALux, Visual).Additional Skills & QualificationsDesired minimum five (5) years of experience.Knowledge of NEMA, IEC, IEEE, ISA, ANSI, NFPA 70E, UL, CSA, TUV, ISA, AGA, and other codes and standards.Experience with SmartPlant Electrical: Expertise in registered report creation/modification, symbol creation, filters creation, rules creation, reference data creation, batch mode operations, data maintenance, and overall effective utilization of tool.Experience with SmartPlant Instrumentation and SmartSketch.Experience with Revit 3D or another comparable 3D electrical design tool.Familiarity with lighting calculation software and capability to perform analyses and interpret results against code requirements.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $31.25 - $43.00/hr.
