Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, currently has an opening for an Electrical Design Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia.   In this role, you will design, develop and build, Low and Medium voltage switchgear for generator paralleling applications.

What you will do: 

Interpret customer specifications and drawings, and apply them while considering industry regulations and NEC, UL 508, UL 891,UL 1558, UL MV, CSA 22-2, and ANSI requirementsCreate bill of materials in ERP systemProvide direction to purchasing and procurementProvide direction to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawingsSupport production during equipment manufacturingWrite and validate PLC code for generator control systems, interfacing with various communication protocols

Product Design and Development: Level Working Knowledge:

Communicates with professionals to understand various requirements of product design.Tests and evaluates alternative means of production being considered for use.Uses automated tools to design or modify the design of a product.Assists in building a complex prototype of product

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

PLC experience with Schneider and/or Allen BradleyExperienced with UL508A control enclosure designPower Engineering and Multi-Function Relay Programming/Operation

Summary Pay Range:

$87,480.00 - $131,280.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
