BAE Systems is tasked with designing and implementing new product and technology to Combat Mission Systems (CMS) program. In this position, you will be supporting the Combat Mission Systems Business at our Sterling Heights, MI or Minneapolis, MN facility. Relocation will not be offered, and housing is not provided; we are targeting someone working towards an Associate's Degree in this role. Electrical Designer interns who support Combat Vehicle Programs at BAE Systems will typically be assigned to support areas and components within Engineering such as: electrical power generation, distribution and storage, cabling, C4ISR (Command, Control, Computer, Communications, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance), vehicle displays, vehicle databusses (CANBus, Ethernet), transducers, or other sensors, actuators, motors, or lighting. As a Designer intern within the Electrical Engineering organization, you will be part of an integrated product team in the development of a vehicle platform. We provide each Design intern with an opportunity to gain some hands-on experience with a combat vehicle. The internship is from May 2025 to August 2025. This job is posted for all candidates for full-time assignments (40 hours / week). **As an Electrical Designer Intern:** + You will work closely with electrical engineering staff or electrical designers to support one or more aspects of the Combat Vehicle design/build process. + Generating or updating engineering models, drawings, specifications, or other related documentation. + Perform design and drafting of both electrical and mechanical aspects of electrical/electronic equipment using PTC Creo. + Create designs and drawings of electrical and electro/mechanical components, wiring harness assemblies, and installations using PTC Creo and Creo Cabling. + Collaborate with Electrical and Mechanical design teams to develop and integrate complex vehicle systems. + Aid in the documentation of new or existing 3D models as well as loading models to the document management system using PTC Creo. + Research vehicle subsystems, such as system architecture, cable interconnect diagrams, electronic and electrical enclosures, to gain a general understanding in military vehicles. + Gain hands on combat vehicle experience through review, installation, and/or testing. **Required Education, Experience, & Skills** + Currently enrolled in an accredited college/technical institute pursuing an Associate's Degree in Electrical or Electro/Mechanical Design Engineering, or related field. + Good oral and written communication skills. + Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with others. + Good organizational, planning and follow-up skills. + Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite. + Candidates must be local to either Sterling Heights MI or Minneapolis MN. **Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills** + Interested in a career in the defense industry. + Completed a minimum of one year of associates degree. + Experience with CAD, specifically PTC Creo or Pro/Engineer. + Hands-on experience repairing/maintaining/building electrical/mechanical systems. + Interest in working with a multidisciplinary team. **Pay Information** Full-Time Salary Range: $41140 - $57217 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience. Temporary employees generally are not eligible for BAE Systems benefits, but can elect to participate in the 401(k) savings plan.
