Job Description
The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for power distribution, including riser diagrams and panel schedules, low voltage infrastructure design for IT and security systems, lighting design including fixture selection and controls, and lighting calculations. Additional responsibilities include designing low-voltage systems such as fire alarm, security, and controls, calculating loads, fault current, and voltage drop, and performing field surveys and construction phase support.
ResponsibilitiesDesign power distribution systems, including riser diagrams and panel schedules.Develop low voltage infrastructure designs for IT and security systems.Create lighting designs, including fixture selection, controls, and lighting calculations.Design low-voltage systems such as fire alarms, security, and controls.Calculate electrical loads, fault current, and voltage drop.Conduct field surveys and provide support during construction phases.Essential SkillsProficiency in Revit.Experience in electrical design.Knowledge of lighting design.Engineer-In-Training (EIT) or Engineer Intern (EI) Certification.Experience in power distribution and low-voltage systems.Knowledge of National Electrical Code (NEC) and standard industry design practices.Strong teamwork, communication, and client relationship skills.Ability to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.Strong work ethic and solid organizational skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with electrical design software.Familiarity with lighting designer tools.Work Environment
The work environment consists of a small team of 10 employees in a bullpen-like office setup. The atmosphere is very family-oriented and open to hybrid work options after a demonstrated ability to perform. The company is on call for capital expenditure projects across multiple states and offers generous full-time benefits and relocation packages for candidates willing to move to Lawrence.
