Electrical Designer
Job Title: Electrical Designer Actalent is seeking multiple emerging Distribution Designers to support an engineering services opportunity for reviewing and evaluating communication companies’ applications to install attachments on Hawaii-based utility poles. In this role, you will work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure compliance with industry standards, utility regulations, and safety requirements. The position involves reviewing design drawings, conducting pole loading analyses, and evaluating pole conditions. Additionally, you will prepare cost estimates and design packages for necessary improvements (make-ready work). Some field work may be required to assess existing pole and site conditions. Key Responsibilities: + Application Review: Review applications submitted by communication companies requesting to install attachments on utility poles. + Design & Load Analysis Review: Analyze submitted design drawings and pole loading calculations for compliance with industry and utility standards. + Pole Condition Evaluation: Evaluate pole conditions based on historical inspection records and provide recommendations for necessary repairs or upgrades. + Make-Ready Work: Prepare cost estimates and design packages for make-ready work, including modifications to poles and infrastructure required to accommodate communication attachments. + Field Inspections: Conduct field assessments, as needed, to evaluate existing pole and site conditions for attachment feasibility. + Collaboration: Work under the direction and oversight of Project Managers and Engineers to ensure all design work aligns with utility standards, safety protocols, and project timelines. + Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of design reviews, field assessments, and project progress for internal records and client reporting. + Client Interactions: Engage with clients and their customers as needed, providing updates, addressing inquiries, and supporting the overall project success. Qualifications: + Education: Associate’s degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent work experience). + Experience: 0-3 years of experience in utility design, distribution design, or a related field. Experience with pole attachment applications is a plus. + Technical Skills: Familiarity with industry and utility standards related to pole design and loading analysis is preferred, but not required. + Software Proficiency: Experience/willingness to learn design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, or similar) and basic knowledge of utility design tools. + Field Experience: Willingness to perform site inspections and assess field conditions for design considerations. + Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders. + Attention to Detail: Strong analytical skills with an eye for detail, ensuring compliance with standards and accurate documentation. Additional Information: + On-the-job training will be provided to support the development of pole loading analysis skills and distribution design expertise. + The role may require occasional travel for field inspections. + This position will involve both office-based design work and on-site assessments as needed. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
