Job Description
The Project Engineering Electrical Designer is responsible for completing electrical design and drafting duties related to all areas of the plant and associated engineering disciplines. This individual works independently on job assignments, taking basic project information and producing finished engineering drawings suitable for bidding and construction. Documents produced include electrical schematics, connection diagrams, motor schematics, loop diagrams, electrical classification drawings, installation details, miscellaneous construction, and as-built drawings. The design/drafter may be responsible for making project design decisions.
ResponsibilitiesDesign electrical instrumentation systems.Apply sound project design engineering principles.Ensure systems and equipment are designed and installed in accordance with regulatory standards.Assist with project reviews and system design.Review field installations to ensure compliance with design.Verification and completion of as-built drawings.Work directly with Project Engineers, Project Planners, and Construction Field Coordinators to define project implementation requirements.Develop electrical instrumentation drawings.Perform field verification as required to support project design.Essential SkillsExcellent AutoCAD operating skills.Field verification technique knowledge.Understanding of electrical instrumentation design practices and regulations.In-depth knowledge of design codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, OSHA, ADA).Basic electrical instrumentation engineering knowledge.Ability to work well in a team environment.Strong personal initiative.Good communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious manufacturing experience, particularly with process-related equipment such as Switch Gear, MCC, Power Panels, Instruments, and I/O systems.Capable of working independently.Associate degree in Drafting/Design Technology or equivalent.8 years of experience in electrical instrumentation design in the process and industrial field.Work Environment
This position is in a manufacturing environment that requires the ability to ascend and descend stairs on a periodic basis and access all areas of the plant. The position requires working during core business hours, with extended hours and weekend work required when needed to support plant activities.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.00/hr.
