Electrical Distribution Engineer
Job Title: Electrical Distribution Engineer

Job Description

The individual will be responsible for independently developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems for electric utility customers. This role focuses on system reliability and improvement work, replacing old equipment, and assessing requirements from client-provided scopes. The role involves both fieldwork and design work, including creating designs using Open Utilities, conducting energy analysis, and compiling a Bill of Materials (BOM) in SAP/Material Tracking Software. The final deliverable is an electrical construction package for client approval.

ResponsibilitiesDevelop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems.Improve system consistency by replacing old equipment with new.Review client-provided scopes and assess requirements.Conduct fieldwork, including taking photos and measurements of specific sites, poles, or circuits.Create designs using Open Utilities, a Microstation-based CAD system.Perform energy analysis to ensure materials meet site usage requirements.Compile a Bill of Materials (BOM) and enter it into SAP/Material Tracking Software.Assist with permits for utility lines crossing roads, easements, private property, or tree removal.Submit the final electrical construction package for client approval and make necessary revisions.Use software such as Poleforman or PLA/Pole Loading Analysis for structural analysis of wood poles.Ensure designs comply with National Electric Safety Codes (NESC).Communicate frequently with the client via email, phone, and teams.Essential SkillsElectrical Engineering Degree, Mechanical Engineering Degree, or Engineering Technology Degree in ME/EE.Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Catia, Microstation.Work Environment

This position involves a combination of fieldwork and office work. Fieldwork locations include Muskegon, Ludington, Cadillac, Alma, Claire, West Branch, Traverse City, Saginaw, Owosso, and Lansing, with a preference for candidates living within a 60-mile radius of these locations. The office locations are Traverse City, Gaylord, Bay City, and Grand Rapids. Candidates living within a 45-minute distance to one of these offices are expected to come into the office, with potential for hybrid flexibility after a few months. Remote work is an option for those living outside this distance. The role requires frequent communication with the client and adherence to safety standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $33.00
