Job Title: Electrical Distribution Engineer Job Description We are seeking an Electrical Distribution Engineer responsible for developing design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems for electric utility customers. The role involves improving the system reliability by replacing or upgrading old equipment. The candidate will review client-provided work and assess the requirements of the scopes. Responsibilities + Develop design and construction work packages for electrical overhead distribution systems. + Review work provided by clients and assess scope requirements. + Conduct field work involving photos and measurements of specific sites or circuits. + Create designs using Open Utilities CAD system. + Perform energy analysis to ensure material selection meets site requirements. + Create bills of materials (BOM) using SAP/Material Tracking Software. + Assist with obtaining necessary permits for utility lines. + Complete and submit electrical construction packages for approval. + Use software like Poleforman or PLA/Pole Loading Analysis for structural analysis of wood poles. + Ensure compliance with National Electric Safety Codes (NESC) in designs and material selection. + Collaborate with Quality Control approvers for necessary revisions. + Communicate frequently with clients via email, phone, and Teams. Essential Skills + Bachelors or Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, CAD Design, or Engineering Technology Degree in ME/EE. + Experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, Catia, Microstation. Work Environment The role involves both field and office work. Field work will be conducted within a 60-mile radius of locations such as Muskegon, Ludington, Cadillac, Alma, Claire, West Branch, Traverse City, Saginaw, Owosso, and Lansing. Depending on proximity, candidates may work remotely or in one of the offices located in Traverse City, Gaylord, Bay City, and Grand Rapids. The work environment may offer hybrid flexibility after a few months. The company supports professional growth, including preparation for the FE exam and working towards a PE license.
