In this position...
The Electrical Distribution Systems Design and Release (D&R) Engineer is responsible for the design, development, validation, and release of the wiring harnesses under their responsibility. The EDS D&R is also responsible for design improvements that lead to quality increase, cost and weight optimizations.
What you'll do...
1. Design wiring harnesses complying with program cost, weight, quality, performance, and timing targets.
2. Complies with Robustness Engineering Disciplines (Quality history, P-Diagram, FMEA, etc.) ensuring compliance to requirements and specifications.
3. Knowledge and application of six sigma and 8D.
4. Leads Technical Design Reviews (TDRs).
5. Release parts in FEDEBOM and WERS through the product life cycle. Support the Change Control Meeting.
6. Audit and update BOM (Bill of Material) with correct part levels and usage, for prototype builds and maintain it post Job 1.
7. Identify validation, durability and functional test required as per requirements and specifications. (DVP / FEDE DVP dashboard).
8. Issue resolution in Digital and Build Phases of Product Development.
9. Analyze and breakdown Program Direction Letter and Trim Spiders to account for EDS.
10. Generate proposals to minimize giveaway cost and reduce total part count.
11. Generate design optimization proposals utilizing benchmarking.
12. Develop and maintain the build level complexity charts.
13. Perform Harness Complexity Analysis.
14. Perform engineering cost estimates.
15. Define and verify engineering prototypes requirements at part level.
16. Parts implementation/Sign-off in manufacturing and assembly plants assisting quality issue resolution in all milestones.
17. Support prototype and production build events for forward model programs.
18. Support quality and manufacturing quality forums s required.
19. Complies with GPDS deliverables (applicable to EDS) for each milestone.
20. Submit invention disclosures, process improvements and best practices.
21. Comply with training as outlined in calendar year objectives.
You'll have...
BS in an Engineering discipline.
2+ years of vehicle electrical system or vehicle wiring system experience.
Even better, you may have...
MS in an Engineering discipline.
Working knowledge of vehicle development process (GPDS), change control process (WERS), and vehicle launch experience.
Ability to travel to suppliers or assembly facilities to support APQP and build events.

This position is a range of salary grades **SG5-SG8.**
