Electrical Drafter/Designer
POWER Engineers, member of WSP is currently seeking an Electrical Drafter/Designer to work with our Government Services Division. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be part of an engineering team engaged in engineering design projects in the Government market including mission-critical infrastructure design, power delivery, power generation, power distribution, backup power, UPS, system studies, renewable energy, MEP design, and related projects.
Excellent communication skills, motivation, positive attitude, and ability to work on multiple projects concurrently will be core skills for the successful candidate. Our Department is growing and the successful applicant will play an important role in the development of a sustainable electrical department with staff filling roles at all experience levels. Applicant will interface directly with internal and external engineers and designers, and will demonstrate a proven ability to drive projects to successful completion within budget and schedule constraints.
Technical responsibilities include providing CAD and BIM (Building Information Modeling) production and support services with project and design engineers on federal projects. Services will include, but not be limited to, CAD/BIM user support, Project Set-up, Project CAD Standards reviews, 3D Coordination reviews, and drafting and modeling on projects that include one-line, three-line, schematic and general arrangement drawings. Drafter responsibilities include utilizing and following specific codes, reference material, CAD standards, and the ability to use application software effectively with a high level of detail and accuracy. Ability to interpret engineer’s notes and sketches and create detailed working drawings will be necessary. The successful candidate must also be able to multi-task and work under deadlines.
Required Education/Experience
Associates Degree in Drafting or Electrical Design (or equivalent technical degree or experience)Knowledge and experience with federal government projectsKnowledge and direct application of federal drafting and drawing standards is requiredFive plus (5+) years of applicable experience with AutoCAD and REVIT desired with preference given to candidates who can also operate MicrostationMicrosoft Word and Excel experienceExperience working with scalesExcellent oral and written communications skills and must work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environmentExperience working on low voltage and medium voltage electrical drawingsGeneral understanding of architectural and engineering systemsAbility to work with other engineers, designers and drafters and to take direction from senior engineersEffective in prioritizing and setting deadlines, while also adapting to changeMust be a US CitizenDesired Education/Experience
