Job Description
Seeking a mid-high level electrical engineer responsible for the design and development of electrical systems for commercial, residential, and industrial buildings. The primary focus will be on school district projects involving renovations, additions, demolitions, and gutting K-12 projects across the state. The role involves spending 80% of the time on design work and 20% on construction administration tasks, such as client phone calls, RFIs, and submittals. The engineer will prepare detailed electrical design drawings and specifications using Revit or AutoCAD and ensure all designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and develop electrical systems for various building types.Focus on school district projects, including renovations and new constructions.Prepare detailed electrical design drawings and specifications using Revit or AutoCAD.Perform electrical load calculations, lighting design, and power distribution planning.Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations.Manage construction administration tasks such as client phone calls, RFIs, and submittals.Provide technical support during construction and commissioning phases.Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on best practices.Contribute to the growth and direction of the electrical engineering department.Conduct field visits and review shop drawings and prepare record drawings.Essential SkillsMinimum of 5 years of experience in electrical engineering (including 2 years in power/power distribution and electrical equipment pipeline and 3 years in building systems or controls experience).Proficiency in Revit (AutoCAD as a second option).Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA).Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with AutoCAD 3D, plumbing design, and fire protection design.Ability to run projects and visit client sites independently.Experience with construction phases, including field visits, answering RFIs, and reviewing shop drawings.Work Environment
This role offers work flexibility with a hybrid schedule, allowing two days of remote work per week. Enjoy summer Fridays off as part of our family-owned, women-operated firm based in Syracuse with 30 employees. Our company provides professional mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering services for colleges, hospitals, multi-family housing, retail facilities, and K-12 schools throughout New York State.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $43.26 - $55.28/hr.
