Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will collaborate with office personnel, plant personnel, Project Managers, and other disciplines to develop and modify electrical designs. This role involves creating and modifying drawings, writing scopes of work, coordinating with outside contractors and vendors, and making site visits to plants as needed. Additionally, the Electrical Engineer will write specifications, develop preliminary designs, material take-offs (MTOs), and man-hour estimates. Experience with 3D design is essential.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and modify electrical designs for plants and processes.Create and modify drawings using Plant 3D and AutoCAD Electrical.Write scopes of work and specifications for electrical equipment.Coordinate with outside contractors and vendors.Conduct site visits to plants as needed.Develop preliminary designs, material take-offs (MTOs), and man-hour estimates.Ensure accurate designs through 3D modeling of electrical equipment.Prepare equipment specifications for MCC, VFD, IO/PLC components.Work with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.Provide troubleshooting and technical assistance to manufacturing plants.Coordinate technical input to third-party engineering design firms.Essential SkillsProficiency in electrical design, especially with power and controls.Experience with low voltage design (480V and lower).Ability to develop MCC schematics, control panel/station layouts, and IO schematics.Experience with 3D modeling of electrical equipment using Plant 3D.Strong technical knowledge in preparing wiring diagrams, electrical equipment layouts, single line diagrams, and electrical/instrumentation portions of P&ID.Familiarity with NEMA and IEC standards.Ability to work independently in the field and conduct site assessments.Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical and Draftsight.Strong project management skills including multi-project management, organizational and project planning skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate with third-party engineering personnel, vendors, contractors, project managers, and construction managers.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in the oil and gas industry.Experience in the paper processing industry.Consulting experience.Open to 15-20% travel to sites.Work Environment
The work environment involves collaboration with office personnel, plant personnel, Project Managers, and other disciplines. The role includes working with electrical CAD design tools such as AutoCAD and Draftsight, conducting site visits to plants, and coordinating with outside contractors and vendors. The position requires fieldwork to conduct site assessments and perform walkdowns to gather information and evaluate design constructability. The Electrical Engineer will work on multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring schedule and budget commitments are met.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
