Electrical Engineer

Job Description:

General Summary:

With some supervision from the senior staff or the Manager of Electrical Engineering, provide engineering design and analysis for lighting, power, low voltage, and associated control systems for new construction and/or renovation of industrial, commercial, educational, governmental, and healthcare structures in conformance to client requirements and applicable codes. Provide engineering to develop construction documents for the installation, interconnection and control of architectural, electrical, and mechanical components.

Essential Job Functions:

Possess / demonstrate the engineering knowledge and understanding to design and/or analyze electrical systems for the installation, interconnection, and control of architectural, electrical and mechanical components.Using applicable codes and standards, design and engineer lighting and power distribution systems, low voltage systems (fire alarm systems, telecommunications, data networks, lighting control systems, power monitoring systems, etc.), including sizing of equipment, etc.Review and/or establish project scope, electrical budget, design approach, and applicable constraints with the Project Manager or client as appropriate.Knowledge of the NEC and other relevant NFPA standards, as they apply to the electrical design.Adhere to project quality, budget, and schedule.Prepare feasibility studies and schematic design packages of lighting, power systems, etc.Possess / demonstrate the graphic ability to produce construction documents per company and client standards.Communicate and work with all other disciplines to produce coordinated construction documents.Conduct field measuring and checking at the project site.Maintain organized project file containing project calculations, schedules, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.With assistance, edit and draft project specifications.Review project submittals (shop drawings) for conformance with contract documents; specify action required for conformance.Prepare project cost estimates.Respond to RFIs.Perform related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited universityProfessional Registration*LEED accredited professional qualification preferred

Experience:

5+ years related and progressively more responsible experience in electrical engineering fieldExperience with short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination and arc flash hazard software (e.g. SKM, ETAP or EasyPower)

Skills/Competencies:

Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and AutoCADExperience with SKM, ETAP or EasyPowerBluebeamBIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)Excellent written and verbal communicationStrong attention to detail
