Job Title: Electrical Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will work closely with various departments, including Production Engineers, Production Planning, and Manufacturing, as well as sales representatives, power utility companies, and subcontractors. This role involves reviewing new product developments in switchgear technologies, ensuring custom specifications meet ANSI and NEMA requirements, and ultimately being responsible for stamping off on projects. The engineer will also interface with clients and stakeholders to ensure project viability and compliance, review equipment and structural specifications, and provide technical information regarding design, manufacturing, and materials.

ResponsibilitiesLead the R&D for the electrical engineering team.Design and develop new switchgear equipment for substations within the power utility industry.Interface with production teams and sales engineers to provide subject matter expertise.Support utility companies on research and testing and assist sub-contractors during installations and testing.Coordinate directly with clients to meet specific customer needs and challenges.Work with equipment such as vacuum interrupters, air break switchgears, resistors, ground switches, hookstick, vertical and slant break systems, and motor operators.Support the development of high voltage vacuum interrupters capable of handling 3000-4000 amps.Review new product developments in switchgear technologies ensuring they meet ANSI and NEMA requirements.Stamp off on projects and ensure compliance with client specifications.Essential SkillsBachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.4+ years of engineering experience related to switchgear technology used in the power utility industry.Proven experience working in a client-facing environment supporting both internal and external stakeholders.Direct experience working with CAD software.Power utility experience working directly with substations or switchgear equipment.Electrical engineering or design experience working with 15kV to 500kV systems and 1200A to 5000A systems.Additional Skills & QualificationsPE license preferred; required to obtain a PE license.Experience in electrical testing and R&D of new products.Experience in acquisitions of new materials and components.Ability to determine project viability.Strong analytical skills.Effective collaboration and communication skills.Work Environment

This is a permanent, fully on-site position in Forest Grove, Oregon. The position includes an office and site tour, primarily based in an office environment with onsite fabrication facility access. It involves regular site and client visits. The role will have two offices: one in the main HQ building shared with the Mechanical Engineering lead, and another across the parking lot in the R&D lab where most R&D efforts and testing will take place. Travel is required for onsite support, trainings, and client visits. The facility includes an entire production team on site, and testing and R&D will be applied at different phases with the manufacturing groups.
