The Electrical Engineer designs, develops, and maintains the electrical and automation controls systems of the manufacturing facility. This includes assessing the manufacturing process for new or improved electrical equipment, programing machine controls, using design software, and managing the installation of equipment.
· Responsible for the integrity of the plant electrical distribution system.
· Coordinate with the Maintenance Department and outside vendors for the preventive and predictive maintenance of the plant electrical distribution system.
· Oversee all changes to the plant electrical distribution system
· Design, develop, and supervise all aspects of automated control systems associated with the plants equipment and machinery
· Analyze existing equipment and processes for improvements and provide recommendations based upon assessments.
· Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
· Support both Production and Maintenance Departments by troubleshooting issues with hardware and processes.
· Provide operator interface of machines through programming of PLC’s and operator terminals
· Support the Maintenance Department with AC and DC drives troubleshooting, set-up, and replacement
· Aid other Engineers, adapting applications and instrumentation for process development, to include equipment installation and existing equipment upgrades.
· Direct, coordinate, and consult with other company employees and outside contractors concerning installations and maintenance projects.
· Provide engineering assistance pertaining to electrical theory and design
· Manage projects as assigned, to include, cost estimation, requesting quotes, purchasing, installation, and qualification of equipment and processes
· Provide technical manuals and training for electricians, operators, and training personnel at the conclusion of machine installations or upgrade projects
· Maintain safe working conditions in all project areas
· Conduct food safety and defense self-inspections and report deficiencies
EDUCATION/SPECIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING:
· Education/Work Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or another related field. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working in a manufacturing facility. Ability to design electrical equipment or systems. Ability to work with a team to prepare designed or operational plans. Ability to use a hands- on approach to finding answers to problems.
· Language Ability: Must have excellent communication skills
· Math Ability: Proficient mathematical skills
· Reasoning Ability: Must be able to understand and create electrical schematics. Familiarity with common automation hardware. Ability to use analytical thinking to analyze information and use logic to address issues.
· Computer Skills: Microsoft Office Suite and Rockwell Software Studio required. AutoCAD, AC and DC Drive Programing software preferred
