Description
Top 4 projects examples :
1. Control Panel / Control Box design
2. VFD - 3 phase variable frequency drives
3. sizing of electrical components (fuse, wire, To and From lists)
•\tVariable Speed Drivers (any and all are a positive for this role)
•\tThey should know: How to Size? Configure
•\tControl Panel – Integration
o\tBoM Mgt
o\tUnderstanding of concept to design for Control Panel (development)
•\tUnderstanding of 3 phases – Control Panels
o\tWire Harnesses – low voltage to high voltage
o\t3 phase wiring
o\tRouting
Do not need to be Design experience- no CAD - design layout s for the designers, but not CAD for the EE
- Good exposure to Electrical component/Layouts in Control Box
- Resource to discuss with customer electrical engineers and come up with layouts to give to designers to do multiple design concepts in Creo along with the BOMs and Control boxes
The biggest need I see if for an EE that understands industrial electromechanical controls/panels. Ideal person would understand how breakers/contactors are used for controlling motors, understand the basics of sensors – pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc.
Should understand electrical diagrams for motors, sensors, heaters, switches, electronic components – sufficient to create electrical schematic drawings and then be able to develop wiring harnesses from these.
Ideally would have some experience with sizing/design of copper bus bar and have some knowledge of power components (inductors, capacitors, inverters, rectifiers, etc)
Should be able to correlate NEC ampacity tables with appropriate wire gauge and terminal selection as part of the harness development.
Should have enough CAD experience to design and layout sheetmetal control enclosures, locate components with proper spacing to allow for wire routing, tying, placement of wiring duct.
Should be familiar with panel design for different NEMA and IP ratings – typically for us NEMA 1 and NEMA3R, but we do design some panels for NEMA 4 and IP54. This implies some knowledge of panel latching, gasketing as well.
Create spreadsheets and layouts to hand off to Electrical mechanical designers.
Will be checking work from the designers and marking up drawings to assist in the CAD and BOM creation.
BSEE - 2+ years exp control panel layout Project eng, Change Management, Product customization experience a plus. Layout, sizing and load calculations for control boxes.
Job Responsibilities:
The candidate will be responsible for the creation or modification of design concepts within the Creo/Pro-E environment for commercial chiller products. This includes working with documents, drawings and bills of material in a variety of formats. They do not do the design in CAD, but the BOMs and everything is housed in eCAD, Creo and windchill.
Manage data change and version controls;
Strong design skills, engineering documentation systems and ability to work within fast moving engineering design team;
Working knowledge of manufacturing fabrication and assembly methods;
Coordinate design activities with local team and offshore design teams.
Experience:
Experience needed for the position includes but is not limited to the following:
Good verbal and written communications skills - spread sheets, share point
Experience with bill of material structure and databases
Experience with electro-mechanical control systems and components
Ability to work well with a cross functional team
Competitors - Trane, McCoy and York. ***McCoy is laying off in the VA / DC area*** Low hanging fruit
Experience with large assemblies
Some exposure to electro-mechanical control systems and components
