Electrical Engineer

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Platform Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating, evaluating, analyzing, and developing electrical harness design concepts for components and assemblies to meet product improvements, product options, and customer-specific requirements. This role involves collaboration with various engineering support groups and cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and completeness of engineering designs, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, schematics, and test report documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Generate, evaluate, analyze, and develop electrical harness design concepts for components and assemblies.Support the Program Management Office in developing and executing project and resource plans for major NPD programs.Execute project and resource plans for smaller-scale engineering change projects.Coordinate and collaborate with various engineering support groups to develop technical management plans with mitigation plans for technical risks.Match existing and new technologies to market needs and opportunities.Ensure adherence to DFMEA and DVPR processes.Ensure laboratory and field-testing activities adhere to product development processes.Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams (Test lab, Manufacturing Engineering and Operations, Finance, Quality, Procurement, Service, etc.), cross-business unit design engineering and manufacturing groups, and key suppliers to meet project deliverables.Ensure accuracy and completeness of engineering designs, bill of materials, wiring diagrams, schematics, and test report documentation.

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and test the manufacture of electrical equipment, including machinery controls, wiring, and lighting.Evaluate the cost-effectiveness, reliability, and safety of certain design models.Estimate time and cost to complete projects.Simulate and test machine/structure/system operation.Investigate and test vendors’ and competitors’ products.This role has been designated by the Company as Safety Sensitive.

Key Competencies:

Experience with vehicle electrical system design and harness/interconnection systems or similar.Experience with electric machines, power electronics, and automotive networks (e.g., CAN).Proficiency with using electrical tools and instruments to perform tests, troubleshoot, and gather data.Virtual harness design and documentation skills required; Pro/Engineer or Creo Schematic proficiency is an advantage.Experience with using a PLM system to control documentation, Windchill or TeamCenter preferred.Experience with new product design, sustaining engineering, technical problem solving, and tradeoff analysis.Ability to quickly and efficiently understand, condense, and organize information to make informed engineering decisions.Self-motivated with strong relationship-building and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams spread across multiple geographical regions.Demonstrated ability to prioritize and support multiple projects.Strong project planning/management and organizational skills.Experience with CAN protocol, testing system integration, and PCB design.Ability to deal with complex issues and troubleshooting.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00
