Primary Responsibilities\:
· The Electrical Engineer researches, develops, designs, and evaluates electrical components, equipment, and systems, applying principles and techniques of electrical engineering for a variety of building, industrial, transportation, and mission-critical projects.
· As a subject matter expert, they will provide technical expertise in Electrical engineering while collaborating with project teams, government clients, and contractors to manage and execute facility designs, including lighting, power distribution, fire alarms, and IT systems.
· The electrical engineer will perform quality control reviews of work developed by others and ensure quality assurance throughout all phases of the project.
· They will manage multiple priorities, work independently, and contribute to team success will be key to delivering high-quality results.
Essential Functions\:
· Provide design of electrical systems, facilities, and components including low to high voltage power distribution, stand-by generation, interior/exterior lighting for buildings, access control, security, and fire alarm systems
· Perform project electrical design tasks including calculations and analysis related to power, lighting, communications, fire alarm system, electronic security, and other various electrical systems.
· Prepare construction drawings, project specifications, and review cost estimates, and supporting documents including electrical floor plans, equipment schematic diagrams, equipment block diagrams, equipment load calculations, and connection diagrams
· Prepare research, technical reports, and correspondence for project designs and studies
· Review of permitting agency/engineering standards and regulations necessary to develop proper project design and permitting applications.
· Provide technical input to studies and design assessments, with expertise for benefit of client and/or team.
· Participate and support site field investigations and evaluation of electrical systems and equipment at existing facilities to examine repair needs, determine costs, and write inspection reports and other construction related activities.
· Respond effectively to scope, schedule, budget in working with project managers and other senior level team members.
· Coordinate system designs and equipment with other Engineers and Architects to meet customer needs and ensure projects are properly constructed.
· Knowledge and use of the National Electrical Code as well as other engineering codes and industry standards.
· Takes initiative, is a team player, and can adapt well to a changing environment.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
