Electrical Engineer
Job Title: Electrical Engineer Job Description We are looking for a Electrical Engineer to support the R&D efforts and the revision and update of existing product lines within the Medical Device and Biological industry. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for being the architect of product design and development from the electrical perspective and overseeing the software and embedded programming of the devices. Responsibilities + Provide technical leadership to new product development projects including generation of product requirements, concept design, proof of concept evaluations, detailed design, documentation, verification testing, and transfer to production. + Support the management team in creating project schedules, resource allocations, and budget estimates, ensuring that engineering efforts support the company’s strategic priorities. + Use technical expertise in Electrical Engineering to develop product architecture, technical specifications, designs, and functional test plans that ensure reliable product performance with respect to product requirements, appropriate standards, and environmental considerations such as electromagnetic susceptibility. + Interpret supplier component specifications to determine appropriateness for product design and manage critical components for production continuity. + Develop microcontroller firmware applications to interface with and control electromechanical elements of complex instruments. + Generate and deliver required documentation and procedures for the manufacture of products to the production department, including schematic diagrams, assembly and test procedures, test fixtures, part drawings, and purchased parts documentation and inspection plans. + Use technical expertise in Electrical Engineering and firmware inspection to troubleshoot production and field issues with legacy products in a timely manner. + Provide clear direction to other functions within the engineering department in fulfillment of project and departmental objectives. + Create Engineering change requests, ensuring correctness and preserving product functionality. + Support other departments such as product management, technical support, sales, and marketing with orientation and training on new products, technical manual content, and assist with technical issue support as needed. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. + 10+ years of experience in electrical design of complex products including PCB design, board layout, and schematic capture. + 5+ years of prior experience in firmware development for microcontrollers using C, C++, Python, and/or other embedded programming languages. + 5+ years of experience in planning and technical management of complex product development efforts. + Familiarity with integrated development environments (IDEs) like the person, IAR, or MPLAB. + Proficiency in microcontroller/microprocessor architecture (e.g., ARM, AVR, PIC, etc.). + Strong knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, including signal processing. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Proficiency in electrical design, AutoCAD, hardware, AutoCAD Electrical, engineering, PCB, automation, electronics, power distribution, circuit design, low voltage, hardware design, project management, CAD, and PCB layout. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Routine communication by email, Microsoft Teams, and video conferencing is expected. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $62.50/hr.
