Job Description
We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to support a program for the design and development of the Columbia Class Submarine, specifically focusing on the integrated power system. This role involves working directly with the shipbuilder to identify, assemble, manage, direct, and coordinate all resources required for the design, construction, testing, and evaluation of the future submarine's power system. This is a critical role in supporting the Navy's mission to ensure dominance over the seas.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the design and development of the Integrated Power System, including the generation and distribution of all electrical power, and the controlling systems for all components.Work closely with Naval Reactors, PMS 397, the shipbuilder, and component vendors to ensure the highest standards are maintained.Provide support to our compatibility test facility in Philadelphia, PA where the components are undergoing testing.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or other Technical fields.Minimum of two (2) years experience in the design, maintenance, operation, and issue resolution of complex electrical systems.Experience in technical writing and review.Articulate in both written and oral formats.ACTIVE Secret Clearance.Additional Skills & QualificationsNavy Nuclear Propulsion experience at a prototype, nuclear shipyard, or shipboard.Work Environment
Work will initially be onsite at the DC Navy Yard for the first four months to familiarize with the group and technology. After this period, the role will transition to a hybrid model with three days a week onsite. The work environment is team-oriented, comprising mostly of ex-navy veterans and retirees who understand the challenges of transitioning and genuinely care for each other.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $48.07 - $55.29/hr.
