Job Summary
As Electrical Engineer on Crystal Group’s multi-disciplinary Advanced Program Pursuits (APP) team, this position is responsible for conceptual design and technology realization in a critical hands-on role within the company. The APP Electrical Engineer leverages industry knowledge, electrical design expertise, and creativity to propose novel solutions to difficult engineering problems. The position involves engaging with product managers, marketing, and customers to synthesize and refine design inputs, evaluate technology offerings, generate design concepts and prototypes, and effectively communicate technical details.
Essential Functions
+ Work with internal and external design teams to generate product concepts, designs, rapid prototypes, and technical specifications.
+ Utilize electrical design tools (e.g., Altium Designer, ANSYS SIwave) to perform engineering tasks, including conversion of technical requirements into schematic diagrams, printed circuit board layouts, and assembly drawings, and validation of proposed designs.
+ Perform full-stack development of prototype mixed signal printed circuit boards containing high speed digital circuitry, embedded systems, power conversion, and/or related technologies to support the pursuit of new business.
+ Support builds of custom electrical assemblies and interconnects for rapid prototypes and customer demonstration units. Direct or coordinate electrical manufacturing and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
+ Support immediate, mid-term, and long-term innovation and product design strategies. Provide expertise to guide product managers to navigate the development of new products and technologies.
+ Provide concise and well-thought-out input on technological opportunities worthy of organization investment and assist with establishing product development timelines and priorities to ensure that deadlines and goals are met.
+ Efficiently communicate design concepts to support technical write-ups, proposal responses, and trade studies.
+ Lead and participate in concept generation activities, including brainstorming sessions.
+ Work with Legal team to identify opportunities to protect product designs through patents, trademarks, or other intellectual property management techniques.
+ Evaluate electrical designs and prototypes for energy performance and environmental impact.
+ Mentor and provide guidance to junior electrical designers/engineers.
+ Comply with safety, quality, and ESD guidelines.
Basic Qualification
+ Must be a US Person (US Citizen, person granted US Permanent Resident Card or any individual who is granted status as a "protected person”)
+ Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or related field or
+ Two to five years of PCB design work, or custom electrical assemblies and interconnects for rapid prototypes in lieu of degree.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- includes physical requirements
+ Experience with mixed-signal circuit design, printed circuit board layout, and systems integration.
+ Experience with fast fabrication techniques for printed circuit boards and wire harnesses.
+ Must be able to sit, stand and bend at various times while lifting and reviewing computer hardware items
+ Ability to inspect products and effectively use the computer on a daily basis is needed
+ Ability to use various software programs related to engineering theory (Altium Designer, Ansys SIwave, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD)
+ Must be able to manage multiple concurrent projects and effectively prioritize tasks.
+ Works well both independently and in a team environment and is willing to change priorities as needed
