Overview
This position performs engineering work which supports various natural gas simple and combined cycle combustion turbine and hydro power plant functions and requires application of standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria. Exercise of professional judgment is required in the performance of the assigned tasks.
This position will be filled at the the appropriate level based on the candidate's experience level.
This position will be located at the Cane Run Generating Station, and will also support the Paddys Run and Ohio Falls stations in Louisville, KY.
Responsibilities
+ Identifies opportunities for improvement and/or suggests improved methods.
+ Performs engineering assignments associated with the design, construction, performance enhancement, cost effectiveness, operation, and maintenance of various plant equipment and systems.
+ Coordinates activities of engineering co-op students, technicians, and others assigned to specific projects as necessary.
+ Work assignments are varied and somewhat difficult.
+ Performs assignments in which evaluation, originality, ingenuity, decision-making, and authority are required.
+ Supports various plant operations and maintenance groups with engineering-based problem troubleshooting, identification, analysis, and resolution.
+ Assists Maintenance Supervisor with large and/or complex projects, as required.
+ Assists with the development of station/engineering goals, objectives, budgets, programs, and procedures.
+ Plans and controls all activities so as to provide an accident-free workplace.
+ Conducts work activities with regard to environmental rules and regulations.
+ Regularly reviews assignments to assure optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
+ Support plant with oversight and compliance of NERC reliability standards.
+ Support plant maintenance outage planning and execution, and direct contractors on assigned outage projects.
+ Perform role of contractor proponent as needed.
+ Performs other duties as directed by management.
Qualifications
**Education Requirement**
ABET Accredited Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering is required
**Preferred Qualifications**
Ability to use formal engineering training in practical application to power plant assignments.
Experience with combustion turbines is a plus.
Experience with power systems is a plus.
