Electrical Engineer
Job Title: Electrical Engineer Job Description As an experienced Electrical Engineer, you will manage and oversee electrical engineering projects from inception to completion, collaborating closely with the Project Manager and other team members to ensure project success. You will be responsible for producing and reviewing drawing sets, stamping others' work, and coordinating with utilities to upgrade services to the site, including switchgears and transformers. Your role will involve conducting power system modeling using SKM, Easypower, and ETAP, performing flash studies, relay coordination, and preparing detailed reports. You will work with electricians on start-up projects, conduct site visits for load studies and upgrades, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Responsibilities + Produce and review electrical drawing sets and stamp work. + Coordinate with utilities to upgrade services to the site, including switchgears and transformers. + Conduct power system modeling using SKM, Easypower, and ETAP. + Perform flash studies, relay coordination, and prepare detailed reports. + Work with electricians on start-up projects. + Conduct site visits for load studies and upgrades. + Complete medium and low voltage electrical engineering calculations and documentation packages. + Develop and check one-line diagrams, conduit plans, grounding plans, area classification plans, control panel layouts, bills of materials, lighting plans, P&IDs, PLC & DCS wiring diagrams, and motor schematics. + Communicate with clients and electrical utilities on new or upgraded service installations. + Coordinate with mechanical, civil, process, and structural engineers to identify potential conflicts and efficiencies with the electrical design. + Support business development opportunities and assist in marketing efforts, including proposal preparation, scope, and budget. + Perform contractor construction submittal reviews and respond to request for information documents. + Coordinate with equipment vendors on behalf of clients to review and approve specifications. + Seek continuous improvement for yourself and the department. + Travel within the United States 15% to 20% for site investigations, design reviews, and construction support. Essential Skills + Project engineering + Electrical design + Electrical engineering + Professional Engineer (PE) license required via NCEES + Extensive experience in power systems, particularly 15kV and lower, with a focus on 600V and lower + Experience in bringing utility voltage down to transformers + Proficiency in power system modeling software (SKM, Easypower, ETAP) + Experience in design and review of electrical systems + Strong knowledge of electrical equipment and breakers + 10+ years of experience in the completion of projects for clients in the industrial market sector, including project development from concept through completion, estimating, start-up, and commissioning + Knowledge of NFPA 70, 70E, 30, 58, and 497, NEMA, API 500 & 540, IEEE codes Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience in the pulp and paper industry is a plus + Familiarity with overhead utility systems is beneficial but not required + Previous experience working with power distribution systems Work Environment We provide multi-discipline engineering study, design, and construction management services to industrial clients. Our projects cover a variety of industries including petrochemical, primary metals, chemical, and pulp & paper. This is a full-time remote role with 15% travel requirements to job sites and client meetings. The work environment is a more traditional setting, with the company having been around since the 70s, and the founders are still involved. You will work directly with Project Managers as the Subject Matter Expert for the electrical department. There is a progression of growth that could lead to a Project Manager role. You will support design meetings, attend site visits as required, and travel to client sites to review conditions. Additionally, you will perform engineering responsibilities and work with the design team to implement design plans, research previous projects for improved efficiency, and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $125000.00 - $160000.00/yr. - Permanently 100% remote- Performance based bonuses paid out at the end of the year- 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off- Banked hours - any hours worked over 80 in a 2 week period goes into "the bank". Engineers have the option to be paid for that at the end of each quarter. At the end of the year, engineers also will be compensated for all remaining PTO over 40 hours.- 40 hours of PTO rolls over to the next year PTO, Holiday pay (NY day, Memorial day, Independence day, Labor day, Thanksgiving and day after, Christmas Day, if holidays fall on a Saturday, company takes Friday, Sunday, Monday off). Medical coverage with company covering portion of premiums (benefits package on file, reach out for full coverage options). Dental, Vision, FSA options. 401K 50% match up to 6%. Bonus offerings depending on individual and company performance, can vary year to year on %. 9/80 schedule and salaried for first 40 hours and straight time for every hour worked over 40 hours.
