Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Electrical Engineer (Communications Hardware) or Principal Electrical Engineer (Communications Hardware) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals within our Avionics Integration Engineering organization. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

This position supports the Communications and Payloads group within our Avionics Integration organization. Basic duties include performing engineering capture, build, integration, test, and maintenance of communications hardware in laboratory and field settings. This includes the specification and usage of specialized test and support equipment.

Essential Functions:

Design of rack-based communication, test, support equipment, and cabling to meet system requirementsUnderstanding and ability to perform electrical signal and power analysis at the rack levelDeveloping engineering drawings in accordance with ASME and IEEE standards, including rack assembly drawings, interconnect wiring diagrams, and custom cable assembliesDeveloping Bill of Material to support build of systemsSpecification of rack cabling (RF, optical, 1553, power) and cooling systemsDeveloping Acceptance Test Procedures and running ATP for score with QAInstallation of communication, test, and support equipment in lab and field environmentsProviding lab, site integration, test, and maintenance supportParticipate in troubleshooting systems to resolve complex issues, interact and coordinate with responsible communications engineers responsible for sustaining communication sub-systems

This position may be filled at either the Electrical Engineer (Communications Hardware Engineer) or Principal Electrical Engineer (Communications Hardware Engineer) level, depending upon the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for Electrical Engineer (Communications Hardware):

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 2 years of relevant engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant engineering experienceAbility to travel up to 25%Must have working knowledge of governing and industry standards to include MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-100G, and ASME Y14.100Must be physically able to move up to 50 lbsMust have color vision to identify cables and wiresMust have experience with drawing and release tools such as CATIA V5, Visio, and/or Teamcenter Enterprise PLMActive in-scope DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret (TS) once in position.Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)

Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field with 5 years of relevant engineering experience; OR Master’s degree in a STEM field with 3 years of relevant engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of relevant engineering experience.Ability to travel up to 25%Must have working knowledge of governing and industry standards to include MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-100G, and ASME Y14.100Must be physically able to move up to 50 lbsMust have color vision to identify cables and wiresMust have experience with drawing and release tools such as CATIA V5, Visio, and/or Teamcenter Enterprise PLMActive in-scope DoD Secret clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret (TS) once in position.Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). Salary Range: $87,200.00 - $130,800.00Salary Range 2: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
