Electrical Engineer II – Avionics Hardware

This role is part of Enterprise Program Management (EPM), where we provide technical standards, tools, processes, training, and subject matter expertise for product engineering and manufacturing. EPM allows all Blue Origin business units to benefit from commonly used capabilities, hardware, and software and assists business units in identifying, selecting, and training engineers from both inside and outside the organization.

  

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers , you will study, develop, and execute validation and verification strategies for avionics hardware used to successfully launch Blue Origin missions.  You will work directly with the team responsible for hardening avionics hardware to the harsh space radiation environment and ensure success of our missions.  Passion for the mission is a necessity.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Basic circuit design and analysisPCB layout and assemblyElectronics lab prototypingCross-discipline interface to ensure space-ready avionics designsParticipation in development of electronics test plans and reports as neededTravel (10-20%) to assist with external testing of simple circuits

Minimum Qualifications

B.S. (or advanced degree) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Nuclear Science, or related field with 2+ years of in electronics design, analysis, and/or testingExperience with the following:benchtop testing / debugging circuit boardssimple PCB layout (Altium PCB design tools or similar)basic circuit analysisElectrical engineering fundamentals, basic digital and analog circuit fundamentals, and familiarity with associated laboratory equipmentAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylumDomestic travel required (10-20%). Foreign travel possible

Preferred Qualifications

Basic experience with Python and/or NI LabView programming and embedded softwareExperience with test automationBasic electronics lab skills include soldering, harnessing, use of oscilloscope, multimeter, and logic analyzerFamiliarity with basic and complex discrete and integrated circuits (transistors, logic, memories, microcontrollers, FPGAs, etc.)Experience with the use of commercial or automotive parts in the space radiation environment
 

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $109,980.00-$153,972.00;CO applicants is $100,815.00-$141,141.00;WA applicants is $109,980.00-$153,972.00
