Electrical Engineer II
Job Title: Electrical Engineer IIJob Description Join our dynamic engineering team to develop next-generation X-ray based security equipment. Collaborate with Scientists, Mechanical and Software Engineers, and Test Engineers to create innovative solutions. You will be responsible for designing PLC-based machine control systems, performing sustaining engineering, designing printed circuits, troubleshooting designs, and producing comprehensive engineering documentation. Responsibilities + Design PLC-based machine control systems, including circuit design, embedded programming, motion control, and power distribution. + Work on sustaining engineering of existing products, addressing obsolescence issues and implementing feature updates. + Design printed circuits and direct PCB layout, fabrication, and assembly. + Produce engineering documentation such as design specifications, interface control documents, schematics, wiring diagrams, and bills of material. + Troubleshoot existing and new designs down to the component level, conducting root cause analysis. + Collaborate with a cross-functional team to present concepts and designs, and complete implementation. + For smaller projects, independently develop solutions, present concepts and designs in reviews, and implement them. Essential Skills + BS in Electrical Engineering or similar field with at least 4 years of professional experience. + Experience in industrial control system design, including PLCs, machine safety, panel/enclosure design, object sensing, electrical interfaces, circuit protection, communications protocols, and power distribution. + Experience with PLC or embedded software development. + Experience with electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, function generators, bench supplies. + Familiar with product development processes including design specifications, design reviews, engineering drawings and documentation formats, and ECR processes. + Comfortable working with and around X-ray radiation producing machines, radioactive materials, high voltage, heavy machinery, electric and hydraulic power systems. + Ability to effectively work with a cross-functional team of scientists, engineers, and technicians, and handle a wide range of multidisciplinary tasks. + Ability to work safely and follow safety precautions in industrial environments. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Proficient in PLC code, IEC61131 languages. + Familiar with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Orcad, PADS, and Altium. + Knowledge of radiation detection technologies and data acquisition systems. + Knowledge of X-ray producing machinery. + Experience developing system architectures and designs for complex systems. + Ability to obtain a SECRET clearance. Work Environment Work in a collaborative and innovative environment with a cross-functional team. Handle advanced technologies and equipment, including X-ray machines and high voltage systems. The role may involve working in industrial environments with varying temperatures, humidity, noise levels, and confined spaces. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and precautions.
