WHEN & WHERE YOU’LL WORK:

On-Site: This role is on-site five days a week at our San Diego (Del Mar) office due to the nature of the work involved.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

Electrical Engineers at Tandem Diabetes Care are members of a team contributing to the design, development, testing, and documentation of electronic components and circuits in Tandem's medical devices and associated test systems.

An Electrical Engineer at Tandem also:

Participates in the research and development of electronic components, printed circuit boards (PCBA), and electrical systems for the Company’s medical devices and associated test systems, utilizing knowledge of electronics theory as well as that gained through experience in electronics design. Takes part in planning, designing, development, testing, and design reviews of electronic and electrical systems for the Company’s medical devices and associated test systems, including PCBAs, batteries, LCD displays, among other components. Coordinates with firmware teams on correct electrical system implementation in software. Provides feedback on electrical test requirements to manufacturing test team as required. Advises failure analysis department on troubleshooting of field returns as needed. Determines design approaches and parameters. Utilizes test equipment to conduct experimental tests, evaluate electronic designs, and perform design verification. Creates test reports to document work results. Assists with maintenance of electronic CAD design software (Altium Designer), including component library management. Selects electronic components and equipment with supervisor feedback, including detailed analysis of specifications and reliability. Takes part in reviewing vendor capability to support design projects. Embraces the Design Control process by participating in design reviews and maintaining design history files. Participates in evaluating the reliability of materials, properties and techniques used in production. Confirms completion of required training plan before assuming job responsibilities. Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

Experienced in PCBA design with electronic CAD software Experienced with MS Office. Skilled at presenting information in a clear, concise manner to all levels within the department. Skilled at contributing on a consistent basis to team initiatives in a thorough and timely manner. Ability to react to changing situations in a timely, calm, and confident manner. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience. 2+ years of experience in the medical device or related field, including detailed design, design testing, and documentation of medical devices.

EXTRA AWESOME:

Awareness of federal and other regulations, e.g., QSRs, ISO 14971 IEC 60601 series. Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Proficient in using common electrical test equipment, e.g., DMM, oscilloscope, function generator, DC power supply. Altium Designer experience is a plus

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
The starting base pay range for this position is $87,300 - $109,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and may also fluctuate depending on candidate’s location and the overall job market. In addition to base pay, Tandem offers a competitive compensation package that includes bonus, equity, and a robust benefits package.

You’ll also receive 11 paid holidays per year, a minimum of 20 days of paid time off (with accrual starting on day 1) and you will have access to a 401k plan with company match as well as an Employee Stock Purchase plan.
