Your OpportunityWe are seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer in Training to work exclusively on a high security nuclear energy program in Atlantic Canada.
In this role you will support our culture of external client service, build your technical strength in understanding and anticipating client needs, execute strategies to advance the Client’s project program objectives, manage risk, establish priorities, and resolve emergent problems.
Working directly with the Client on this program, you will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to the design for small to large scale projects. The primary work location is Client-owned industrial work site near Saint John, New Brunswick (with frequent requirements to work on site). This position is permanent full-time for the duration of this project.
Individuals will be required to work in an office setting and perform site walkdowns in a noisy environment with occasional requirements to work at heights.
Successful candidates will be trained on and required to adhere to the Client’s site safety, clearance requirements, and quality assurance program.
Successful candidates must be able to obtain Site Access Security Clearance (Level 1) through Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and meet the requirements of the Code of Federal Regulations Hi10 CFR 810 Appendix A.
Your Key Responsibilities The safe and reliable conceptual and detailed design of power, instrumentation, and controls systems. Conducts basic interpretations of drawings, codes, and other similar materials. Works with other engineering disciplines and professionals in the coordination of the project under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer. Drafts basic technical documents under the direction of a senior engineer/ designer. Performs occasional field work as directed by a senior engineer/ designer. Assists with basic engineering duties on projects of various complexity. Assists with collecting data and gathering information to support design decisions. Work as a contributing team member within a multi-discipline team. Your Capabilities and Credentials Understanding and prioritization of safety and quality processes and culture. Self-starter, skilled in navigating engineering design concerns and developing project scope documents, technical requirements, reports, and quality reviews. Participate and collaborate in a project team setting to engage in creative and critical thought. Comprehensive understanding of design standards and codes related to electrical systems. Knowledge of industry standards including electrical, instrumentation and / or controls engineering design principles. Experience in developing all phases of electrical, instrumentation and / or controls engineering design packages. Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, National Electrical Code, and applicable energy codes and ability to apply and interpret same. Advanced oral and written communication skills. Team player and collaborator with interpersonal skills and experience in coordinating people. Experience in developing and reviewing technical documents. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage priorities. Problem-solving skills. Education and Experience Preferred Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Minimum of 2 years of experience working on engineering design projects preferred.
