Job Description
Design sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and intricate power distribution systems for commercial and industrial clients. Create and assess design alternatives, perform engineering calculations, and develop estimates for small-scale improvement projects. Build and review complex electrical system models, ensuring the accuracy of study findings and recommendations. Draft electrical specifications for major equipment. Model large-scale power systems using ETAP and conduct various analyses and studies. Prepare bills of materials and technical specifications. Schedule and participate in field walk-downs to understand project requirements. Conduct field evaluations for estimate preparation. Engage in the estimate review process as needed. Maintain and update the GIS database for large-scale electrical distribution systems. Perform site surveys for major upgrade projects and develop design concepts. Prepare cost estimates for large-scale electric distribution and substation projects. Stay informed about utility industry standards and codes, ensuring compliance for operations, maintenance, and new installations. Support construction personnel throughout the project lifecycle. Analyze electrical faults, power quality issues, and system loading scenarios, and assist with implementing corrective actions. Manage projects by preparing construction schedules, submitting RFIs to clients, and acting as the point of contact for design reviews and addressing client requests. Mentor junior engineers and support their professional growth.

Essential Skills
+ High voltage experience
+ Power systems proficiency

+ PE License
+ Management and training skills
+ Experience with medium and high voltage systems
+ Arc flash studies
+ One line and three line diagrams
+ Mix of distribution, transmission line, and substation experience
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on power systems highly preferred
+ Eight plus (8+) years of work experience in the electrical utility industry
+ Having worked with medium voltage electrical substations and distribution systems
+ Broad and in-depth knowledge of principles, practices, procedures, and standards related to utility power distribution systems
+ Expertise in power system analysis, distribution system modeling, and protective device coordination
+ Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
Work Environment
Work with a team of 35 engineers, typically split into teams of 10 depending on the assigned military base/project. Up to 20% travel to client sites outside Colorado, typically for 2-4 days a month to military bases. Work from the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $138000.00 - $170000.00/yr.
