Overview This position will perform activities with the planning, execution, and completion of power generation projects like our Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), Solar and Natural Gas Combined Cycle (NGCC) projects, playing a pivotal role in managing the project lifecycle from concept to commissioning. Expertise in project management, coupled with a solid electrical engineering background, will ensure the project meets technical specifications, budgetary constraints, and timeline targets. This position will balance technical oversight with project leadership to drive efficiency, innovation, and project success. This position will require daily travel to our project sites. The position will be filled based on the successful candidate's education and experience level. Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Electrical Design Leadership: Spearhead the design and development of electrical systems—power distribution, control systems, and instrumentation—for projects such as NGCC, solar, battery storage, and more. Project Execution & Planning: Collaborate with the Project Manager on scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation for the components of each project. Ensure Compliance: Maintain adherence to project design, quality standards, budget, and schedule throughout execution. Cross-Disciplinary Coordination: Work closely with mechanical engineers, construction managers, procurement specialists, and other key stakeholders. Contractor & Supplier Oversight: Manage the activities of contractors and suppliers related to electrical equipment and services to meet project specifications. Safety & Regulatory Standards: Ensure all electrical systems adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements. System Analysis: Ensure performance of system modeling, fault studies, and reliability analysis to ensure electrical infrastructure robustness. Commissioning Support: Lead the commissioning, testing, and startup phases of electrical systems, providing technical expertise. Mentorship & Leadership: Act as a mentor for less-experienced engineers, fostering skill development and technical growth. Project Documentation: Prepare and maintain detailed electrical schematics, project reports, and operational manuals. Operations Support: Assist plant operations and maintenance teams with troubleshooting and problem resolution Essential Functions Plans and controls all activities to provide an accident-free workplace. Conducts work activities in accordance with environmental rules and regulations. Directs the activities of cooperative interns, bargaining unit employees and others, as instructed, as they perform various activities including installation or checkout of new equipment, troubleshooting, testing, tuning, etc. Performs other duties as directed by management Qualifications Basic Qualifications ABET Accredited Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required. Preferred Qualifications Strong project management skills with a proven track record in leading sizable electrical engineering projects. Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6) and CAD tools. Extensive knowledge of power systems, electrical machines, and national electrical codes. Solid understanding of control systems (DCS), PLCs, and SCADA systems. Exceptional analytical, organizational, and technical skills.
