Electrical Engineer-Summer Intern

We are seeking a driven and talented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) program! This internship provides an exciting opportunity for Electrical Engineering students to apply their academic knowledge to real-world projects in the rapidly growing fields of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and microelectronics.
As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will play an integral role in the design, development, testing, and integration of electrical systems within our cutting-edge drone platforms. You will gain hands-on experience with electrical power systems, sensors, microelectronics, and more while contributing to both indoor and outdoor UAS system testing and deployment.
+ Apply electrical engineering principles in the design, development, and testing of electrical systems for drones, including power systems, sensors, and microelectronics.
+ Assist in the rapid design, testing, and integration of UAS systems, payloads, and ground support infrastructure.
+ Work alongside production teams to support post-processing of additively manufactured parts for UAS components.
+ Manage assigned intern projects from initiation to completion, ensuring timely delivery and quality.
+ Support experienced engineers through tasks such as engaging in CAD tutorials, performing basic CAD tasks, and developing simple Excel spreadsheets for project analysis.
+ Actively participate in engineering meetings and discussions, contributing ideas and assisting in problem-solving.
+ Provide support (under supervision) for UAS system testing, development, and troubleshooting in real-world environments.
+ Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient workspace, ensuring safety and productivity standards are met.

Required SkillsRequired Experience
+ Currently enrolled in undergraduate program with degree focus in electrical engineering
+ Familiarity with unmanned aerial systems (UAS), drone technologies, and related hardware
+ Strong understanding of electrical circuit design, power systems, sensors, and microelectronics
+ Must be within commuting distance of Huntsville, AL and be able to work onsite daily
+ Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
+ US Citizenship required. Must be able to successfully pass criminal background check prior to hire.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Prior related experience
+ Current DoD clearance
+ Proficiency with design and simulation software (e.g., MATLAB, LTSpice, Eagle, Altium)
