Wold Architects and Engineers seeks an experienced Electrical Engineer for our Palatine, Illinois office. 

 

Our full-service architecture and engineering firm is a dynamic, growth-oriented company providing a wide range of services for predominately public-sector clients, including troubleshooting and problem solving for existing facility issues and new facility design. Wold provides an integrated team approach to deliver high performance building solutions to meet our clients’ expectations for function and superior energy performance. Typical projects include K-12 public schools, hospitals, courthouses, senior living, public offices, city halls, law enforcement centers and correctional facilities.

 

Wold is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer with 5+ years’ experience to join our electrical engineering team in Illinois. There is flexibility with this position to be a managing engineer or project engineer role. A Professional Engineer license is not required (as the position is under the supervision of a P.E.) but is desirable. In addition to basic technical experience and organizational skills the position requires the interpersonal skills necessary to maintain client relationships and interact with a multi-disciplinary team. Typical design scope includes electrical distribution, lighting and controls, fire alarm, and sustainability improvements. Opportunities exist to design audio visual, security and communications system under the supervision of accredited systems designers. Engineers are expected to meet with clients on a regular basis to understand their needs, problem-solve immediate solutions, and plan for long-term strategies.

 

Responsibilities:

Designing electrical systems solutions including power distribution, lighting and fire alarm systems. Writing/editing specifications. Document quality review. Researching suitable solutions and estimating costs. Long-term planning of client facility needs. Collaborating and coordinating with the design team as well as with clients and contractors. Providing electrical expertise at coordination, user and site meetings. Proposing modifications and/or equipment or products. Qualifying the final equipment, product or system. Preparing product documentation. Monitor systems in place so as to improve on future design. Maintaining existing client relationships.

 

Qualifications:

4-year engineering degree from an accredited institution desirable Fundamentals of Engineering Exam desirable 5+ years’ experience Strong organization, written, and presentation skills Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely in a team environment Experience supervising and training team members
