Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated experienced Electrical Engineering Analyst to expand our Electrical practice in Long Beach, California (CA)!
ResponsibilitiesPre-Design Engineering
Coordination and verification of as-built drawingsPerform field investigations.Set up drawings and models for multiple disciplines.Collaborate with team members regarding design coordination, schedules, and deliverables.Perform feasibility studies.Prepare schematic designs.Design Engineering
Design of electrical systems including Ports & Harbors electrification, electric vehicle charging, and building electricalResponsible for the development of reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, equipment selection, solar system sizing, and power analyses.Participate on project teams in an active production roleDaily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplinesPerform energy calculations using EnergyPro or IES VE.Develop single-line diagrams and load schedules.Design lighting selection and controls.Design normal, emergency, and renewable power systems.Perform Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination Power System Studies using ETAP and/or SKM Qualifications2 - 4 years of design experience in electrical engineering specifically in any of the following: building electrical, Solar PV design, and/or electric vehicle charging
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering Field
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months required
LEED Accreditation a plus
Strong understanding of the California Building Code
OSHPD experience is a plus
Net Zero Energy/Carbon experience a plus
Firm understanding of the National Electrical Code, other NFPA codes/standards, and energy codes
Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD)
Building Information Modeling (BIM – Autodesk Revit) experience is a plus
Power Analyses (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, device coordination) in SKM or ETAP
Electrical power, lighting, and fire alarm design experience
Superior verbal and written communication skills
The ability to work independently or in a team environment effectively - The ability to work in a fast-paced, challenging environment
Salary Range:
$85,000 to $110,000
