Job Background & Summary:

We at Actalent Services are a fast-growing engineering consulting group which expanded to Canada in 2014. A significant part of that growth has come out of our Western Canadian Operations focused on Infrastructure and Utilities projects. To support this growth, we have opened an Electrical Engineering Co-op (4 to 8 month co-op, with opportunity for a full time position once graduated). The selected individual will be a part of our Utilities Division based out of New Westminster, BC. During your co-op work term, you will be part of a team delivering BC Hydro substation engineering projects.

Key activities include liaising with project stakeholders, completing project designs and performing quality assurance functions.

This role required Drug and Alcohol screening as a pre-employment requirement.

This position will be 100% in office in New Westminster, BC (Skytrain Accessible).

Qualifications and Experience:

Must be enrolled in an electrical engineering degree or diploma program from a reputable Canada College or University.Must going into in your final year of either a 2-year Engineering Diploma Program or 4-year Engineering Degree ProgramCurrent standing GPA of 75% or better.Willing to travel within BC up to 10% of the timeStrong communication skills, highly motivated and results oriented

Past co-op/work term within an electrical infrastructure/utility environment considered an assetPast field experience considered an asset

Job Responsibilities:

Conduct project site visits to obtain information on existing conditions. These will occur throughout BC and may require being out of town for several days at a time.Coordinate and obtain input from project stakeholders such as cities, municipalities, and utilities.Interface and assist other team members, team leads and managers.Assist in a variety of project support activities including documentation control, organize and resize photos, project coordination and client support.Prepare layouts, conceptual designs, and calculations.Conduct research and analysis related to substation engineering projects, including equipment specifications and industry standards.Support the preparation of presentations and project proposals for clients.Help maintain project schedules and track deliverables to ensure timely completion.Participate in team meetings and provide updates on project tasks and progress.Learn and apply company standards and best practices related to substation design and engineering.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00
