Job Description

As an Engineering Manager in the Fuzing & Warheads Development Group, you will be responsible for Electrical Engineering functions and will also act as a technical lead, technical contributor, or technical consultant on various projects. You will be responsible for growing and managing a design team, processes, and tools as well as directing and/or working with other engineers, technicians, functional managers, program managers and administrative personnel to accomplish your objectives.

This position is on-site at our Plymouth, MN location. No remote work opportunities are available for this position.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

Lead a team that performs technical planning, design and integration in addition to failure analysis, build, test, and production sustainment support of electronic assemblies for defense-related productsEnsure the right people, processes, and tools are in place to meet the business needsOversee the day-to-day engineering activity and work products, expense management, workload management, and performance management processFunction as a key contributor on DoD development programs, managing assigned responsibilities and directing the work of other supervisors, engineers, technicians and administrative personnel to accomplish program goalsIdentify, manage and grow the critical skills development process for the design teamIdentify and/or lead continuous improvement activities within the departmentImprove planning, execution, and tracking methods to increase engineering process excellenceCoach, support, and motivate to ensure a high performing engineering teamEnsure hiring plans and staff development are aligned to overall capability and capacity strategySupport innovation through technology identification and roadmap developmentManage cost and schedule for assigned projectsPrepare, review, and approve cost estimates and written or oral technical proposals

Basic Qualifications

BS degree in Electrical Engineering is requiredMinimum of 5 years of directly related engineering experience, or 3 years with an MS degreeStrong electrical engineering skills and experience in a manufacturing environmentDesign experience in the areas of analog, digital, power conditioning, PWB/CCA design and evaluation, electronics packaging, processors and FPGAsExperience with engineering tools used in developing analog and digital electronic systemsStrong leadership, influence, and project management skillsAbility to network and negotiate at all levels within an organization to accomplish objectivesExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenAdvanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point, Project)Occasional travel (<10%) to meet with various customers, in both government and industry, and to interface with vendorsAbility to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship as a prerequisite.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior project, program, or people leadership experience10+ years working in electrical system, subsystem, and circuit developmentExperience in forming teams and managing employees in the area of circuit development (analog, mixed signal, digital, RF, low power) from schematic to board design Experience with coaching, developing talent, and maintaining the accountability of direct reportsKnowledge of safety & reliability, modeling & simulation, and military requirementsKnowledge of Model Based Design and/or Model Based Systems Engineering practicesStrong background in process excellenceDemonstrated effectiveness in managing internal customer relationships, prioritization, and delegationAbility to balance people management needs and technical contributor aspects of this positionAbility to conduct concise, critical reviews of designs as they are developed

Salary Range: $124,000.00 - $186,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
