Electrical Engineering Manager At Liquid Robotics, we make the most experienced ocean surface robot on the planet. Our Wave Glider platform services a wide range of missions, whether acting in partnership with environmental institutes to monitor oil spills or supporting a nation’s sovereignty by listening for submarines deep within the ocean.  These rugged, uncrewed surface vessels have been deployed in high sea states in the North Sea, hurricanes, and tropical storms, for more than 15 years. Liquid Robotics is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to join our team in the development of autonomous ocean robots and associated hardware and accessories. As a technical lead and manager, you will participate in electrical engineering design activities and lead a team of Electrical Engineers, Firmware Engineers, Test Engineers, and Lab Technicians. The ideal candidate brings an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach and experience in marine engineering. The Electrical Engineering Manager reports directly to the Head of Engineering and is located in our Herndon, VA headquarters. Essential ResponsibilitiesManage the electrical engineering and firmware work within the company. Lead, guide, and develop your team of Electrical and Firmware engineers. With your team, create specifications, designs, and schedules for electronics subsystems for an autonomous ocean surface vehicle Work directly with customers to define custom engineering needs and requirements.Work with engineering team (systems, hardware, and software) to develop designs that meet customer and business needs.Implement best practice processes for design, test and manufacturing release. Maintain and improve development environment (CAD tools, Altium Cloud, etc.).  Plan and scope electrical and firmware work on company projects, support execution to schedule and budget. Support selection of contractors and suppliers, such as board houses, layout specialists, etc., to support and supplement your team’s efforts. Develop and deliver solution-specific training to customers.Support methodical root cause analysis and resolve high-priority, solution-related issues.Author and refine trade studies.Key AttributesProven ability to lead a team of a varying skills and skill levels, growing talent and guiding technical work. Experience working within a lifecycle process, including formal design reviews, change control, design for manufacturability. Strong ability to plan and execute work within a schedule. Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.Minimum Qualifications:BSEE or equivalent. Advanced degree strongly preferred.10 years’ experience in electronics design (PCBAs, FPGAs, etc); focus on maritime environments preferred.3 years management experience, working with a range of junior to senior employees.Ability to obtain a US Secret Clearance required. Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.Summary pay range: $122,000 - $217,000Liquid Robotics is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE).
