An opportunity exists for an Electrical Engineering Coop Student in our downtown Vancouver office’s Buildings Group.
Your Key Responsibilities:
The successful candidate should be interested in the Canadian Electrical Code and how it plays a role in the built environment as the backbone for most systems we interact with. The successful candidate will also be a practical thinker who can project themselves into the position of an end user and apply that thinking to how you effectively operate electrical systems, including building electrical equipment, lighting, fire alarm and other life safety systems, communication systems and building management systems. Specific duties will include:
Preparation of CAD drawings from sketches or mark-ups for buildings related projects Familiarization with load calculations, voltage drop, and short circuit calculations Familiarization with lighting calculations to meet sustainability standards and regulations Assistance to engineers and project managers may include: Completion of equipment schedules, communications, security, and lighting systems Preparation of single line diagrams and control schematics Selection of electrical equipment, overcurrent protection devices, and wiring methods Site inspections and site meetings Preparation of technical reports Project coordination including interfacing with clients and contractors. Your Capabilities and Credentials Currently enrolled in the electrical engineering co-op or equivalent post-secondary program with availability for a 4 or 8-month internship. Must have an interest in building systems including lighting, security, communication systems, and sustainable building design/green technology Power related courses/knowledge is an asset AutoCAD familiarity/experience is strongly preferred; Revit experience an asset Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills Detail oriented team player and the ability to work independently Preparation of Revit models and/or CAD drawings from sketches or mark-ups for buildings related projectsEducation and Experience Students who have completed second or third year in an Electrical Engineering program are encouraged to apply. Prior relevant experience is a definite asset.
Typical office environment, including working with computers for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

Additional Information Salary Range(s): Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s): Location Description: Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in BC (Lower Mainland includes Vancouver & Burnaby) Min Pay Range: Lower Mainland $22.74 Per Hour Max Pay Range: Lower Mainland $29.17 Per Hour Note: The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
